Also, I am sad to report they also said FBI will now lead the investigation, so I expect full black-out of news unless it was somehow finally a MAGA Trump supporter. Live here in New Orleans, have no info but can give some context about how things go around here.

- There is no last call here in Orleans Parish (and most of Louisiana) so Bourbon street does not shut down on busy nights like New Years eve and it will be fairly crowded continuously through the next day, its up to each individual establishment to close when they feel its no longer to profitable to stay open, some places are open 24/7 (exception is Mardi Gras when bars on Bourbon are required to close at midnight for Ash Wed signaling the end to Carnival)

- The NOPD is severely understaffed so there is never enough police vs the crowd size. LA State troopers have been added recently to help control crime on the highways but I am not sure if they are being used in the quarter.

- There are no fixed barriers at the entrance of Bourbon at Canal, usually just those wooden orange and white movable barriers. Iberville is one block in so the truck was only able to get down 1 block before it hit that construction.

-There is major construction throughout Bourbon but there is barriers the remainder of the way and they have mechanical barriers along the side streets, Canal would be the only way to get on a portion of Bourbon on an event night like NYE by plowing or going around those wooden movable barriers.

- It clearly wasn't gang violence, but to that point we really don't have gangs in New Orleans the way like Los Angeles does, its too dangerous for gangs here, the local drug dealers kill them if they try to set up. We have small neighborhood groups that are always in flux with little organized structure or loyalty.

- lF it was Islamic, it is interesting to note we have a large historic Lebanese population which is very peaceful and bright part of our city. But there have been many large Palestine/Hamas supporting demonstrations in the last year which seems to be coming from newcomers. Lots of Palestine graffiti across the city.

- Orleans Parish Sheriff is also a liberal female, though the sheriffs office here doesn't do much law enforcement, they run the jails mostly, but ICE here can't get her to hold the illegal aliens for them when they request them she just releases them immediately claiming lack of funds. Will be interesting if this person was illegal and had been detained before.
