It's a Ford Lightning. Those definitely have emergency braking that would have to be intentionally turned off.

Looks like a Ford Lightning. People couldn't even hear it speed up. I don't understand how there aren't bollards in the quarter. It will be interesting to see the path this terrorist took to get down Bourbon St. I would think the truck would have had to already been inside the quarter, I think it'd be unlikely he entered off Canal St.

This isn't funny but it is the Lightning EV. We'll see if that comes up in the news coverage.

Here in Galveston, we had 1 dead overnight in a head on crash on the Seawall.

They had bollards but they had been uninstalled in mid December as part of road work for the Super Bowl in Feb. The bollards were getting replaced.

Driver had to have planned this.

fwiw...Nicole Parker who is apparently former fbi is on fox news right now and says that she has contacts that tell her it was a terrorist attack, but won't say more. News will take a little time to get out since it happened at 3am on a holiday morning.

NO mayor said it was a terrorist attack, not DUI etc.



Also, I am sad to report they also said FBI will now lead the investigation, so I expect full black-out of news unless it was somehow finally a MAGA Trump supporter. Saw video of the guy getting lit up at the end. He didn't get far out of/away from the vehicle I'd say. Surprised no one can get a shot of the complete license plate.

The FBI's credibility was shot to begin with…now they come out with a gaslighting, contradictory statement that it wasn't a terrorist attack after both the NO mayor and NO police chief referred to it as such, and after we know he did it intentionally.

It may not be a foreign terrorist attack (but it still may, lots still to learn), but at the very least we know the guy intentionally ran down people and got out shooting police. That is at the very least a domestic terrorist attack.

For the FBI to come out at this early stage and say categorically it was not a terrorist attack is irresponsible and untrustworthy. Which is right in line with today's FBI.

I'm so ready for the Trump admin to completely overhaul the FBI. It needs to be completely rebuilt from the ground up.
