Always found it odd when Conservatives claim the education system is indoctrinating students to the left. I went to public Texas schools for 18 years and the VAST majority of my teachers were very conservative, the curriculum is pure right wing propaganda on many subjects (capitalism = good, socialism = bad) and the teachers weren't afraid to let you know their beliefs. I had multiple teachers ranting against Obamas policy's in a math class lol.

Ahh the classic conservative strategy. If you can't win em over take their right to vote! Worked for y'all with women and African Americans for a long time.

I believe you confuse Democrat Party policy since 1828 with that of the Republican Party which goes to make the point that democrats refuse to understand history much less anything else regardless of age.

So the right response to the threat of large numbers of inexperienced, naive and economically ignorant voters is…. to shift policy positions towards their bad ideas?

That'll definitely work.

No one here actually believes any of that.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Lol, the misery and pain of socialism is now "right wing propaganda"

No dude, it's just the facts of history. And yes, we all see it repeating itself.

We likely cannot stop it, but that won't make the starvation or brutal fascism that it brings you feel any better.

Just curious, with all the history thats available regarding socialism's failures, how could you miss the memo ????

This policy would absolutely destroy Republican voters, whose base is 70 year rural whites on Social Security, Medicare and VA benefits. All "government money"
Young whipper snapper has no idea. The NE and NW have states where the population is 75-80% white or more. Lots of urban whites like their benes too and have been voting blue alive (and dead) for years for their union bosses. Most states do not look like Texas. We are very diverse (as many states in the southern tier are). Do some research on just Texas alone. Do some research on Cali. Lots of POC like their benes too. That's the issue - too many people rely on the government for benes.

pure left wing propaganda - capitalism = bad, socialism - if we do it correctly this time = good.

I say it that way because socialism has consistently failed throughout history so I guess facts are now considered right wing propaganda? LOL

Second half of your first sentence nails it. And add that often these superior wits become obnoxious know it alls who are justly ostracized by most folks. Especially good looking girls. So, to get back at them, they adopt hair brain theories that they know gets in the craw of level headed thinking Americans. Then they cherish the negative attention and can't get enough and become believers of their destructive theories, and if you don't agree with them, they plot at destroying you.

Hint, most of Europe is not socialism....having a socialized health care does not mean its socialism. Also, several of those countries have a LOWER corporate tax rate than us. That's right, we have a more progressive (higher) corporate tax rate. They know corporations don't pay taxes and will pass it on, so they tax the lower classes at much higher rates.

A few of them even base the retirement (social security) on the stock market. GASP!!!

Free market still rules in many of those countries and it's even easier/cheaper to start a business in some of them (not all).

While it is well known that the average American student does poorly on international tests what is not so well known is that gifted American students lag particularly far behind their foreign counterparts. I feel like the youth group is more engaged in politics now. Once you get deep enough it's harder to reverse. In the past youth could be liberal but not fully engaged and as they got older and start to care they are at a different mindset than current 18-20 year old.

Also can't blame people under 30 for being against capitalism. Those people experience financial crisis. We had 10% unemployment and over 10 million homes foreclosed. Banks got bailed out and richer and more powerful today. Those 10 million homeowners that were foreclosed got nothing. Then wealth gap widens throughout 2010s. Then COVID which distorted everything. And here we are with inflation today which if you're younger probably impacts you more because you're making less money.

If I'm under 30, have lots of debt, can't afford kids, can't afford houses, no more job security, I'd be pissed off too.

I'll tell you what happened in History class.

In Austin ISD, the commie **** who teaches history gave the kids a presentation of all of Mao's beliefs, and never brought up the 20-70 million he killed, until one of my kids brought it up.

This is the same teacher who has a Bill Of Rights in her class that included the Right to Equal Pay and Right for everyone to vote (illegals)

Someone actually asked her if she teaches the real constitution.

Hey I'll pay for your ticket to Russia right now. Go interview people on the street, especially anyone in a military or police uniform, and ask them how much they like socialism.

If you make it back I definitely wanna hear the details about how great it is.
Anyone who chooses to ride a bicycle in the street is a threat to themselves, and others. If a vehicle strikes you accidentally, YOU are at fault; and the laws of physics supercede all else when you're in the path of a 2 ton killing machine. Know your place, stay off the road.

Weak sauce !!!. the 70's with very high interest rates, inflation, political fumbling (Carter) were FAR worse.

We didn't go candy-assed socialistic. We went to the right. Got a first hand demo of leftist failures that in time brought us Reagan and into the light

Going to raise the age to buy alcohol, age of consent, or simply to be considered an adult to the age of 35? Going to send out military members through the age of 34 without the ability to vote for the people that send them to war? Young people need a well rounded education that is open to ALL viewpoints, then get out of their way and let them think and make decisions for themselves. Whether people decide to agree with or think differently than you that is their choice.

To be fair, socialism helps people with lower IQs, or folks who revel in mediocrity and have no ambition or ideas.
These are folks who live off everyone else's coattails, and disguise their envy as a need for "equity"

The problem, as The Iron Lady once said, is that you always run out of other people's money.

In my country of birth, socialism failed, because the country literally ran out of money and brain power. They had a term for it "brain drain". Most moved to the US. And the country ended up with no money to repay IMF loans. Ended up depositing 60 tons of gold in Switzerland as collateral and were forced to end their ridiculous socialist experiment.

Now my sister lives in a million dollar apartment, that was purchased with a stock sale, where she paid NO capital gains taxes.

They learnt their lesson
I guess they were capable of learning. Not everyone is.

All young generations have been called this. Most previous generations outgrew the entitlement mentality. I don't see the generations coming up growing out of it. A lot of that has to do with the fact a much higher number continue to be treated like children even in their 30s. Living a home or in apartment with parents paying all their bills long past the age they should have taken on their own responsibilities. It is a big reason you see such a push for UBI, free college, etc. Many of them have grown used to people paying their way, a least in part, and don't want off that gravy train
