Meanwhile we hit 81k today and are about 70 days away from a pro Bitcoin president who supports the Lummis bill to make it a strategic reserve. You have a few days left to front run the US government.

You're either a lying

Or you bought something with outrageous fees and you're an idiot.

Just checked the portfolio...

Yes BTC is doing great but all the altcoins are phenomenal... most up 40%. ADA peaked at 110%.

And that's since the election, not the bottom FYI.

100K has always been a sell signal for some of my stash. I'll hold some to see where it may run but 100k.

Dropped 7K into it several years ago. Bought a bit here and there since then. 6 figures worth of it now.

Everyone's situation is different, don't knock someone for taking profits. Could make that person debt free and then some for all we know.

Absolutely, definitely could. Not knocking anyone. Just stating the facts and hoping they'll think long and hard about their situation and decide the best option for their situation.

I've been in the crypto market since 2017, I was heavy into ETH very early. I've always had sell targets and truth be told, I do want some more cash on hand. I still believe there is a financial reckoning coming and I want to be agile and have my powder dry. I'll never be completely out of the crypto market, my degenerate self is still heavy into to alts.

thanks!

it's amazing because recency bias is such that when I bought at $18k and $19K and 27k and $31K I said if it ever hits the ATH $74K I should sell

now it's at 84,000!!!

i think the larger question is if I do sell, what do I invest it in that would be more secure? not equities

I like having BTC to diversity the portfolio, along with gold, corporate paper, oil, bonds, SPY, ONEQ, tech...

I see some validity in that... but I think it will blow past it in bull market assuming there isn't a black swan rug pull situation (which isn't that hard to conceive).

Always good to take some profit at those marks, probably ripe for a correction.. but we are parabolic and it's really just started at this point.

At least give context…

ADA is down 1.5% YTD.
Down 78% since the peak of the last Bitcoin bull cycle.

Bitcoin is up 99% YTD.
Up 36% since the peak of the last bitcoin bull cycle.

****coins will always be second fiddle to bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the currency that Austrian Economists have dreamed of, and it's still early ya'll. Currently priced at $88,000, it's worth more than 1 kg of gold.

At 102k. Curious if you're taking profits stonegate? Personally loving the gains but worried about the rug pull. A little consolidation here around 100k would be great.

It will of course still have ups and downs, but the fundamentals are still there. And big businesses and average normies are just now getting exposure with new reserves and ETFs. It's still cheap. Buy more.

It has utility as an instantly transactional store of value.

The amount of new coins being introduced into the system halves every 4 years.

Many more, but that's the quick reason.

I buy 15 bucks a day and have for a couple years. Every month I move to a cold wallet.

Early last year I bought BTC in a IRA at 23k and continue to add. BTC now makes up a 1/3 of my IRA.

I fully expect to eclipse 1M a coin in the next 6-7 years.

As I understand it, that's not what most investment folks refer to as "fundamentals." I'm looking for how to properly value the asset. It's not back by a government and it doesn't spin off cash flow. As far as I can tell it has no intrinsic value. People seem to buy it based on nothing more than speculation that someone else is willing to buy for the same reason. It might be one step shy of a Ponzi scheme.

I have a feeling Michael Saylor is going to go down in flames in the not too distant future. Any meaningful correction could cause him to have to sell BTC to pay his bond holders. Depending on other conditions, that could cause a BTC death spiral. Is it next year? Or five years from now? Not sure.

The strategy to sell convertible bonds to buy more bitcoin works great if BTC doesn't crash. Why would BTC crash with a finite supply and growing demand via this rinse and repeat process? That seems to be the maximalist thinking as he goes on his pump tour. Others like MARA are following suit. It's like when wall street overleveraged thinking the value of the collateral (houses) wouldn't crash. The major difference is the gov won't bail out the bitcoiners.

There needs to be a villan IF BTC ever fails. Right now I would bet it's ultimately Saylor, who points the finger at MSTR short sellers.

no it wouldn't, the debt is unsecured. the bitcoin is not collateral for the convertible bonds. there is no lender or bond holder that can force MSTR to liquidate BTC. all he has to do is pay the quarterly interest payments and MSTR currently generates enough profit to pay those from its software business.

bitcoin would have to stay below saylor's cost basis for several years for it to start to unwind. definitely possible, but not at all likely.
