It disturbed me that the majority of the posters on the trial thread were very clearly rooting for Chauvin the same way we root for A&M in a football game. The attitude was that he was the good guy and Floyd was the bad guy. Not everyone was like that but that was the general theme.

We all know Floyd was no angel but it was disturbing seeing people defend Chauvin kneeling on the neck for over 9 minutes like that was somehow acceptable behavior. I sometimes thought they were doing that just as a reaction to the left making a martyr out of Floyd.

Saying that the jury did this out of fear for their lives is just a cop out. The defense's star witness was someone who doesn't even have a job any more and is being sued for covering up evidence. The defense went on and on about what a "reasonable officer" would do and yet was unable to produce a single "reasonable officer" to defend Chauvin. Yes the defense was able to poke holes in the state and nitpick and that got people on this board fired up thinking he was doing a good job but that isn't what wins a case. That's not what reasonable doubt is. If you actually examined the text of the murder charges, as they apply in Minnesota, this was the correct verdict.

The "my team vs your team" atmosphere in this country on both sides is repulsive.

Amazing how every single political issue magically gets divided left vs right. No one can form their own opinions anymore, it's just whatever their team tells them they should think.
