I'm in favor of complying with police orders. The officer is there to enforce the law.

So she was a visiting fan who refused to abide by school's terms of attendance at their stadium, and then strenuously resisted being arrested for same. She probably could have prevented the whole thing by just putting back on the America-themed face mask as security approached, but she had a point to make as the visiting fan and mother of a child who did not attend the school where she was staging her protest.

I think I'm OK with the tasing in light of the foregoing, and the tasing didn't faze her much.

This happened because she failed to follow his instructions. People don't get tazed and handcuffed/removed forcefully for failing to wear a mask.

Sounds like the cop told her to put on the mask or leave. His job is to enFORCE the rules. Well here comes the FORCE.

You don't have to wear a mask, but if you are in a place that requires one, you may be called on it by the authorities. If you then refuse to comply, you have royally screwed up, and don't have a leg to stand on legally about how you think this is unreasonable.

Exactly my point. I hate these masks. Again, I had to wear one just to get inside the stadium to watch my son play football. I'm glad I did because he tore it with 2 TD passes and 1 rushing TD to lead his team to a W. I have to wear them for my other 2 boys as well, sucks but I'm not missing out on their performances.

If the school district had requirements for attending the game, and she ignored the requirements, she was in the wrong. This is regardless of what mandates are in place in the state of Ohio, and also regardless of what YOU OR HER personally think about masks.

Following your logic, if my church has a prohibition against smoking in the sanctuary, it is completely unenforceable as long as somebody has the urge to smoke, because there's no law against smoking in the state of Texas.

I never wear a mask but I would say she was asked to leave and so it falls under trespassing if you don't leave.

If you are trespassing, you can be physically removed.

But just my guess. Since I am not attending any ball games this year it's a moot point with me.

The lady seemed to be social distancing... given it is a tiny Ohio High School, very few spectators, none very close to her.

If she has asthma that gives her the right to circumvent the school's mask requirement? She presumably had the America-themed mask on to get in the gate, and decided trickery was the way to go rather than state she had asthma at the entrance.

She shouldn't attend then if she can't abide by the school's entrance requirements. If a Doctor has asthma does he get to skip out on wearing a mask, because to require him to wear one is an ADA violation?

Outdoors, not in an indoor sanctuary;
Smoking is a proven health hazard, not wearing a mask is not a threat;
Politically motivated restriction, not based in reality; and,
The officer and Karen should have handled the situation much more courteously.
