I think he probably was jacked. Gluttony is a sin so I can assume he was temperate in his consumption, and he worked as a carpenter.
Have you ever seen a tiny carpenter who was out of shape? I know I haven't. It's very labor intensive work, especially in that era where all of their tools required physical strength and endurance.
We know Paul used sports analogies all of the time and was a dedicated fitness enthusiast himself. We also know that he was not the only one like that.
Physical fitness in the Bible is repeatedly emphasized by numerous people. The idea that God wants us to be sloths and gluttons is a farce. The men of the Bible knew that a sound body makes for a sound mind. Why would anyone ignore this especially when there is an enormous amount of data linking physical fitness to a significant reduction in all cause mortality rates and linking muscle mass directly to longer lifespans? God wants us to enjoy life yes but if you never struggle for anything then you will end up like Solomon where you're living a completely empty life. Working out and weight lifting provides people, who otherwise have comfortable lives, something to sacrifice and struggle to reach. No matter who you are rich or poor, there are no shortcuts to physical fitness. You either put in the work or you don't. Putting in the work will absolutely give you a new perspective on the world and will show you the value of hard work even if everything else in life comes east.
I could go on and on about the subject but it's something I am absolutely passionate about.
