Yeah, Connie Britton, Adrianne Palicki, and Jurnee Smollett have all had nice careers since FNL. Though probably not quite on the level of Jesse Plemons, Kyle Chandler, and Taylor Kitsch.

Watched Vengeance (the BJ Novak movie) over the weekend and realized the grandma in the movie was the same actress who played Saracen's grandma in the show.

You like it?

Saw it a few weekends ago and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would

I loved it. I think BJ Novak is brilliant and absolutely thought Ashton was perfect for his part.
I went in with high hopes and it delivered.

notice I didn't mention Connie Britton but the younger gals

and ask anyone who "Jurnee Smollett" is and 99.5% would have no clue.

Palicki also has not been in much considering she was pretty much a main character.

the level of Plemons and Chandler and Kitsch is about 50 times higher, although maybe there just aren't roles in hollywood for the younger ladies.

Edit: Forget it. Not worth arguing with Barnes.

grinded through the sh**show that was season 2.

the transition from Season 2 to 3 is WILD.

end of season 2 Lyla was a holy roller dating that Christian radio show guy, and Riggins was borderline stalking her.

season 3 starts and she is dating Riggins.

also season 2 ended with them trying to make playoffs. Season 3 starts and its the next year already. Didnt really mind this. Hard to create drama for three straight playoff runs so doing Season 1 playoffs and (im assuming) Season 3 is a good play.

Pretty sure the writers strike messed with them.

Ha! I just stated watching this on Netflix. Love it so far. Minka is fine and so is the coach's wife.

So many production screwups in this show though..

They show the stadium and clearly says "Pflugerville" on the wall.

Riggins goes to the hospital and the Qb says well it took you long enough to get here. Riggins said he had to hitch a ride because he's in the middle of putting a four barrel carb on his truck.. Then 10 minutes later they drive off in his truck.

Lyla jogs in work out clothes over to Riggin's house and bangs him, then she gets dressed and puts on a pair of jeans. Stupid...but we did get to see her in a some nice undergarments.

Now I'm worried about season 2 sucking so bad I stop watching.

Certainly not as well-known as her brother.

To your point though, I watched the opening credits of every episode she was in when they aired first-run, and her last name never resonated when the whole Jussie Smollett thing was in the news a few years ago.

We TOLD you.

Just wait.

It keeps getting better.

For the record.

Season 2 was not what it was because there was a writers' strike. Season 2 was off the rails out of the gate (before anyone striked) bc corporate executives got involved. Trying to make it profitable. It then ended abruptly (for the better) because of the writers' strike.

Season 3 and beyond were a different business structure that let the creatives take back over, to keep doing what they did in S1. Unparalleled, at the time.

Hang in there. It gets better. I think the last couple seasons are the best.

Season 3 gets things back on track. Season 4 and 5 are good.

Wonder if FNL takes the crown for a show that jumped the shark so badly and then made a strong recovery. I can't really think of a better example. Good shows may have a weak season, but FNL S2 was on another level of totally changing the show up. I can think of similar implosions but it usually results in cancellation and not redemption.

I remember participating in the letter writing campaign around the time of the writer's strike. There was a good chance it was going to get canceled after the shortened 2nd season. Lots of folks sent mini footballs and letters into NBC. That spurred them on to strike the deal with DirecTV's The 101 network for a cost/revenue-sharing deal starting with season 3. The 101 premiered the episodes, and then they aired on NBC a few months later. Pretty unprecedented, and a minor miracle how it all worked out to let the show finish out its story.
