Layla Garrity maybe the hottest girl on television right now. I cant even think of anyone tv starlet prettier.

It kinda looked like the new QB and the coach have a bit of a face off next time. And you're right about Sarazen and his impending breakdown. It's gonna happen, maybe next week. They are setting it up pretty well.

I agree. And it's not some sort of unapproachable Hollywood hotness, it's just absolute natural beauty, the kind that you wish was on the screen 60 minutes straight.

A couple of other thoughts:
--I know it's fiction, but UIL rules prohibit television broadcasts of high school football games on Friday nights. Therefore, Jason watching the game on tv in the hospital couldn't have happened.

--I'm interested to see if any sort of trouble for recruiting develops with the new QB. If you are deemed to have recruited a kid, that's the sort of thing that'll have the UIL sit your butt at home from the playoffs for a couple of years.

If we learned anything from the Friday Night Lights book, it's that as long as the kid is producing on the field, the fans and boosters don't care what color he is.

the show needs someone to monitor 'quality control'. there have been several things in the first few shows that are not accurate or way off.

west mentioned the game being televised as one.

the first episode had something having to do with the clock/rules that was not right.

its not that bigga deal but to real football fans it can be a distraction. the first thing i thought when they were watching tv in the hostpital was "thats not even allowed by UIL", and then i thought about the story.

Agreed. 90% of the viewers won't notice, but it'll bug the heck out of people like you and me.

In reality, though, the movie was far worse. Permian playing Carter in the state championship at the Astrodome (instead of in the semis at Texas Memorial Stadium) was just the tip of the iceberg. They had Permian, Midland Lee, and Abilene Cooper in the coin toss, because the producers were afraid that two schools from the same town (it was Permian, Lee, and Midland High in reality) would confuse the viewers. They used footage of Permian versus the Midland High Bulldogs and called it Permian v. the Marshall Mavericks. They had either Bishop Lynch or Strake Jesuit from Dallas in the playoff bracket when the UIL hadn't yet started allowing private schools in. They had San Angelo Central as Permian's bi-district opponent, when at the time, Central was still in District 4-5A with Permian and the rest of the Little SWC schools.

It's tough, but I guess we have to keep in perspective that these are movies and television shows about high school football, not documentaries.

No one has mentioned the greatest part of the show.... The Pearl Jam "Come Back" song at the end. My new favorite show!

The new QB looks 35 years old.

Do you really think there is any way the show is heading other than that?

I predict the new QB comes in and has problems fitting in. Then, just as he lifts them to the playoffs and everyone gets along, somebody will bring up the recruiting thing.

Actually, if that doesn't happen, I'll be amazed that they went any direction but the blatantly obvious.

I've got a bad feeling this new, flashy QB is gonna be a big part. Which is too bad. I like the underdog in Saracen. I know he's just a fictional tv character, but he seems like a good kid who's just struggling with a huge load on his shoulders. I hope he soon learns to shine at QB, but writers in hollywood hate me, so I'm sure he's toast.

the game film up to now was from last year... considering they are using this year's game film from here on out... im guessing the black guy will be the qb and he'll probably wear #9

I love this show. I really don't like that booster guy (Lila's Dad) that keeps telling the coach what to do. Coach needs to tell him to go home and shut up.

At first, I thought Coach was taking the team to a Junction type weekend of practice but no, just wind sprints.

A little over the top on the drama, IMO. But my wife and kid were extras on one of the shoots a couple of months ago, and she thinks it's the episode next week, so I guess I'll be watching again.

Yeah. When that tool heckling Coach Taylor and bragging about his state championship ring, I was thinking, "yeah I bet you were integral to winning that, too".

There might have been a few things that were a little overdramatized, but from what I've seen, it's been a pretty realistic depiction of Texas high school football and the madness and obsession that surrounds it.

Coincidently (and quite awesome-ly), this is a conversation I had with a friend/co-worker yesterday who I hadn't seen in a couple weeks. Keep in mind, I live in LA and work in the entertainment business...

Anyway, I'll get more info soon (spending five days with him out of town next week on a job), so hopefully I can get more of a feel for what "definitely not a good girl" entails... and what the heck her ex-bf did to end up in jail.
