was coach taylor the top assistant? i thought he was a lower assistant, like a qb coach because it seemed like the only reason he got the job was because he developed the awesome QB.

the steroids part caught me off guard. i assumed it would be a topic eventually in an episode- they did a great job leading up to it.

1. I like seeing a character confrontation between Saracen and Smash (next week)

2. I expect we learn the coach's daughter's answer next week too

3. I'd like to see Saracen have another good game or two to solidify him on the team.

4. I'm still waiting fore Buddy to get his ass kicked. I still want to reach into the TV and throttle him myself.

i don't now why, but i'm freaking hooked on this show.

I was in tonights episode! Didn't think my 'extra' bit would make it in, but there I was...woohoo!

Congrats vic! I'm jealous - I only made it on as a blurry assistant coach way in the background tonight. They keep those cameras in tight on the main characters.

The accident to Street happened "two months ago" yet the Panthers are only "three games into the season"?

My wife thought it was over the top and unrealistic when Buddy Garrity was mouthing the play by play from Dillon's State Championship a few years ago.

My only thought was how many of us know Dave South's call by heart - "He Got A Touchdown!He got a touchdown!Oh..Doctor!"
and I'm sure there's a few others.

that's exactly what i thought. great scene.

i also loved when the coach chewed smash's ass at halftime, pretty aggressive. it was nice to see that intensity out of an otherwise steady character.

The only thing unrealistic about that is the fact that Buddy didn't have a son playing in the game. It's a little over the top for him to be so obsessed when he doesn't even have a kid playing. I think that is the only element that could make this show any better...having Buddy have a son making him an obsessed parent pulling strings. Any chance Lyla has an unseen freshman brother that will be playing next season?

Is Lyla Buddy's daughter? No way is that believable, suspension of belief or not!

bizag - you nailed it. She does have a little brother, and his character name is "Little Buddy Garrity", hence, no identity of his own.

I don't think that's unrealistic at all. Spend some time in West Texas and you'll see plenty of people with no tie to the program at all that take it waaaay too seriously.

I grew up in West Texas...I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it's just a little over the top. But I do think it would be much more interesting if he had a son.

They did show a son in the pilot who made the comment about Lyla cramming her tongue down Jason Street's throat or something to that effect.

The other day there was a girl sitting a few table down from me at The Olive Garden who looked just like Lyla Garrity. Couldn't help glancing over a few times.

wow. maybe the best episode yet.

1. Whoop for Saracen getting his foot in the door for some potential Coach's Daughter poontang
2. Smash needs to get his head on straight
3. Next week looks good with the confontation between Street and his sloot
4. Good show, can't wait for more football next week
5. I am looking forward to the inevitable Coach sitting Saracen down and telling him if he touches his daughter, he'll kill him, despite the fact he told him to get her in the back of a car a couple episodes ago. And her telling her parents she was going out with him was awesome.

Good episode tonight.

Definitely a great episode.

1. I'm glad to see the deal with Street and Lyla is going to come to a head, them dragging the uncertainty on and on was about to kill me. For Jason's sake, I'm glad he punched Tim and told Lyla to leave at the end of the show last night.

2. I don't know what the heck Tim's deal is. The episode before this, he had quit drinking and was going all out into actually giving 100% effort, but this episode he sort of backtracked. I do like that they're giving some more time to developing the relationship between him and his brother, and their characters in general.

3. Tyra is a whooer and a slut, but she is incredibly hot. It doesn't really surprise me whatsoever that her sister is a stripper, and I'd be surprised if Tyra doesn't go into the family business after graduation. As much as she hates Dillon, there's no way that she'll end up leaving after high school. That's just the way it is, I know people just like that.

4. I'll be interested to see how the deal with Saracen and Coach's daughter develops. I hope they revisit that glorious moment when Taylor told Saracen to "get that girl in the back of a car". Her coming in with the "FYI, Saracen and I are going out" was pure greatness.

5. Freaking Smash, I want to slap the boy. Not only is he 'roiding, but he's using the love offering from the church to pay for it. When they took up the collection, I thought that he might decide that he was screwing up big time, but apparently not.

Did anyone get reminded of Tex in the Tim and his brother scene?
