Now that hurts! As mentioned, the wifa saw Man on Fire and started talking to some of my cousin's wives at a wedding where they waaaayyyy over exaggerated things and that sealed my fate with her opinion.
We lived in Managua for several years when my daughter was young, and my wife was fine with it except that she never got comfortable driving. The wifa is, and clearly looks, Hispanic and I think (actually I know) that causes a lot of the angst as she doesn't speak Spanish well, she actually speaks what I call "Spankee". "Spankee" is what I have heard Yankees trying to speak Spanish sound like. She was fine with Nicaragua as there were so many bilingual folks there and she could always get by in English, but in most parts of Mex that isn't the case.
Oops...apologies...didn't mean that as a knock on you or wife if you took it that way! More of a "my wife will do pretty much anything to see these guys on tour" right now.

No not at all, I understood. I just wish my wife would have the appreciate for good music to join me in seeing Rush. I didn't join her seeing Duran Duran or Sting, so turnabout is fair play. Longtime runny buddy and I, who are both big fans, gonna make this show and have some fun in Mexico City.

Woke up when the first flights took off from Burbank at 7am. Went downstairs, got some breakfast, read the National Midnight Star "to catch my breath before I start off again". Seriously though, I did watch the morning "sense o'clock news" where I found out there are some Pride parades in WeHo today so... I'll be avoiding that area.
As part of the Superconductor package I purchased way back when the tickets went on sale, they Emailed me a schedule of the timeline of events and a map of the venue showing where to check-in and a contact phone number in case I need help. I don't recall ever receiving any pre-show communication that was this thorough so, I'm fairly impressed.
(the only show I can think of that was similar in detailed pre-show communication was the 2015 Rock in Rio - Las Vegas Metallica / No Doubt weekend where they sent you a bunch of messages to make sure that you had a credit card connected to your wrist band account for their "cashless venue").

I have a personal side quest I need to complete before the show in Santa Monica (research daughter's possible wedding reception venue).
I'll probably head out from Burbank in a few hours because I want to drive Malibu Canyon Road and then head down PCH into Santa Monica just so I can see the wildfire devastation for myself (I've watched the Adam Carolla videos and it looks bad).
During the time period from 2005-2007, I spent a good bit of time working with Pepperdine University and around that same time, some of my Rock and Roll friends used to play gigs at the Malibu Inn (I think it's gone now). So I'm familiar with what it used to look like. I'm curious to see how it looks in 2026. I'll save my full depression about the current state of Los Angeles for the Politics Board.

I've been listening to a lot of Rush this week in preparation, including "A Show of Hands" CD on the way to the airport yesterday. It feels like I'm cramming for an exam where I don't know which material will be covered from a large body of work. Maybe like the EIT exam as an example (I think they changed the name these days).
Obviously "Tom Sawyer" will be on the test but I feel like it's that Texas A&M Chemistry test bank in the BQ Study Lounge where it could be any of these hundreds of questions. Geddy and Alex have said it will be a pool of about 38-40 songs (test questions). But, will we get the full "2112 Overture", or just "Temples of Syrinx"? Does Alex bring out the 12 string for "Closer to the Heart"? And do we get "Cygnus X-1" or just the teaser?
Nobody knows because it's a brand new exam and we have a new Professor behind the drum kit. The suspense is kind of fun.

Saw one father son combo figuring out which weed they were going to smoke in the parking lot and which weed they were bringing into the show.lots of old tour shirts, jackets, etc.
Saw one young guy with a girl and was impressed that a young girl would be into Rush. As they got closer, I figured out it was probably his mom and she was close to 60.
Lots of friends going to the show together.
A big banner outside the venue boasting about 4 sold out nights.

Just saw some Roll the Bones shirts but the oldest shirt I've seen so far is the Grace Under Pressure shirt on the guy behind me in the merch line.
Dude in front of me graduated HS in 1970 in Toronto and claims he had Rush and Triumph play at his High School. Probably did.
Only seen 2 maskers so far.

When I ride in the front passenger seat of a car, it's hard to keep from moving my foot over to a brake pedal that's not there when we come to an intersection. I wonder if Al and Ged do the same thing on those Moog Taurus parts that Loren Gold is playing now.

Thanks. It was a great experience being surrounded by other folks who have been Rush fans for decades.
All of the people sitting around me were going to multiple shows.
- Crazy Canadian guy from the merch line said he was going to 9 shows.
- The 350 lb cancer survivor guy was going to another show in Seattle and the cancer survivor guy next to me from the IE (Inland Empire) was going up to Seattle to join this guy he just met. He put it like this. I survived cancer and you never know how long you have left. Yeah, I'm definitely going (also why he spent $900 on this seat - same for me, minus the cancer).
- A man and woman sitting by me were from Phoenix and were going to see Rush there. For the guy, it was his first Rush show ever (picked a good one).
Something I learned reading those books, during the intro before Xanadu, Neil was represented by a napkin with his name on it and a glass of what Neil called "The Macallan".
I'll leave you with this quote from one of Neil's books - "Adventures suck while you're having them"

Thinking about it, opening with Xanadu is genius. The story of immortality. That is so on point and clever.

I couldn't do it - I told myself and buddies going to Ft Worth Shows no spoilers, wasn't gonna watch or read anything, but I can't get enough of some of the videos. The crowd cheering Anika on and her huge smile along with Geddy checking on her from time to time giving her assurances she was nailing it. Almost teared up just seeing the double neck bass and double neck guitar. Amazing set list. Can't wait!!!

Love the mass cheer she got after she nailed the famous drum break on Tom Sawyer. On one video...I've seen few angles of it, you can see Alex watching her with a big grin, and then after she nails it, you can see her smiling back with achievement.
It's not like they let her off easy.

She has a great attitude and is a woman. Even wore lipstick. And yeah, she was I think a little apprehensive at first but, later, she was smiling the whole time. And like I said earlier, I think it was YYZ where she took over and the crowd was sold on her as the new drummer.
I'm not saying she drags in extra women like how Arnel Pineda drags in Filipinos for Journey but, I saw more females there last night than I think I ever have at a Rush concert before. The 2015 final show at the Forum was a full on sausagefest.
Many of them are going in memory of their late husbands. It's an older crowd.
