I'm reading Restarting the Apocalypse right now and am on book 2. I really like the concept, but I'm not as sold on the execution. I wish they explained "the system" a little better than they did.

I've been trying to find something to listen to. After you guys started talking about cradle, I looked back and realized that I never listened to Threshold (didn't know it was out). I kind of forgot about the series, but I guess I'll get that book with my credit.

I could've sworn I listened to Awaken Online, but it's not in my library, so maybe I just thought about it.

Any other books similar to DCC? Evidently at some point I listened to the first book of Divine Dungeon (Dungeon Born). Maybe I'll give that one a try after I finish Cradle.

For those that have not read book 8, the reference is around the 50-60% range

I take enjoyed the "noobtown" series and "he who fights monsters" on audio book. I also enjoyed the early Monster Hunter books.

I agree with Noobtown, and would also highly recommend Good Guys / Bad Guys as well as Ripple Effect.

There are several cultivation audios in the same genre:
Beware of Chicken
I got reincarnated as a farmer
Cheat potion maker.
Heretical Fishing

all started good but did not carry as the series continued in my opinion. Beware of chicken is still good, just not as good as the some of the other series I have been listening to. I kept starting Perfect Run but kept getting pulled out by new books for other series and have not gotten back to it. As soon as i finish the new Primal Hunter I will add it back to the queue, as there have been a bunch of recommendations for it.

Perfect Run is great. Really enjoyed that trilogy. Mix of groundhog day and deadpool with a marvel vs DC fight going on in the background. BOC is good too.

MHI Memoirs are really good in my opinion too.

I have no idea how I missed this thread over the last couple of years. It's taken me a couple of days to catch up on it, and it's great to see all the comments that are reminders of past books. When book 8 came out, I started to read it and realized I should have done a re-read, so it was put aside to finish another book. Then I did a recap from Kindle of books 1-7. Now I'm at 80% of book 8 and it's obvious a re-read is a must even now. There is so much background that has been forgotten that I think it would really help to enjoy it even more.

Last night I was laughing so hard at what happened to Carl at the beginning of Heat 7 my wife asked what was so funny. I suck at spoiler tags, so I won't post what happened, but if you've read this far, you know. It's pure genius and I don't think I've laughed that hard at a book passage since the early parts of Lonesome Dove.

Yall got me ready for a re-read. I am powering through the 4th and 5th Stormlight Archives books and then I'll probably jump back to DCC.

For those of who haven't listened to the audio books, here's a sample of some of the voices.

Was gonna be mad if Quasar wasn't S tier. He amazing on audiobooks.

Also props to him because I had no idea it was all one guy. I legit thought there was a female voice actor.

Lol, sorry guys, I know I'm in the extreme minority here, but I think ninety percent of those voices were horrible. He's not good at female voices at all (WTF was Katia's voice?).

Apparently Matt just posted the first two chapters of book nine on Patreon and people are voting on Mordecai's form

Thought book 8 was just ok, but the AI/primal stuff feels a little abstract at this point. Will see how it goes. Thought the dungeon part was just ok.

Maybe I'm just getting tired of reading the series, but I'm not really enjoying the Faction Wars book (so far). Granted I'm only to the point where the AI has just gone primal, but It's just ok to me right now.

I think the issue is he has slowly introduced the real conflict outside of the dungeon and now the events in the dungeon don't feel that important anymore and also kind of the same ridiculous dungeon antics over and over so it gets a little stale. I wish we had gotten a little more outside the dungeon stuff.

Honestly the voice acting in some parts is the only thing that still cracks me up in the dungeon.

I was talking with a friend, and we agree that this is the first book where it felt like the dungeon itself was secondary.

Just finished book 8 on audiobook. I really enjoyed it and was wanting more. My friend pointed me to ripple effect so I will try that series.

When is the Book 9 release...?

If it's truly live action..I think it flops hard. I cannot how imagine expensive it will be with all the CGI.

But if they can somehow tell the story in a really great animation style (like Arcane, Blue Eyed Samurai, etc), which this series certainly lends itself too, I think it could be awesome.

There is zero chance that it won't look awful as live action. This has to go a different direction otherwise it's cancelled after 2-3 seasons max because of costs.

Yeah, in previous posts I expressed the same concern. There's absolutely no way this world can be shown in live action. Needs to be animation, and good animation like Blue Eye Samurai or Legend of Vox Machina, not **** animation like Invincible.

Seth McFarlane and Chris Yost does absolutely nothing to excite me for this.

This is just begging to be made into a video game and yet nothing has ever been mentioned on that front.
