Ewan McGregor could be a fun choice for Hal Jordan, especially if John Stewart becomes a yellow lantern. "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!"

Not familiar with this. Thought this might Weird War Tales when I saw this tweet. That was an awesome comic.

This feels opposite of who those characters are. Hal is reckless, while John is calculated

James Gunn says Creature Commandos is an appetizer for what's to come in the DCU:

"Superman is the true start of everything, it's a humongous epic. This is a way for people to just take a little nibble and see what it tastes like. There are a ton of fun references to other DC stuff, a bunch of hints for things that are coming. So I think it's just an extraordinarily fun way to start."

Look up Crisis on Infinite Earths on Max and you should see the first two parts. I rented the third part to finish, but it might be on Max now. It's animated, not the Arrowverse one.

I did find them and watched them all.

I wish somewhere there was a list of all the superheroes that were shown. I'm not familiar with a lot of them. Who is the bat guy in all black with the red bat and no face?

I loved how the isolated Earths that were destroyed at the end were callbacks to animated series like the Superfriends and the Justice League series.

I have the graphic novel but haven't read it yet. How closely does this trilogy follow the book? Obviously the Arrowverse version, as fun as it was, only barely skimmed the book storyline.

Are you talking about Batman Beyond? Or was it a different character?

It only uses some of the basic beats of the original story, adapted for the animated Tomorrowverse universe, as well as the DCAMU

Yeah, that's who it is. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the Tomorrowverse, I guess.

Ooh definitely go watch the three seasons of Batman Beyond then. It is a lot more adult than Batman the Animated Series

The Tomorrowverse is the most recent animated universe that includes these: https://tomorrowverse.fandom.com/wiki/Tomorrowverse

What I meant by adapted for that was it uses that universe's history and characters, then brings in the other animated universes from the past, as well as a ton of characters from the original comic (like the Earth 2 Superman and Psycho Pirate). The Constantine/Flash/Darkseid thing isn't from the comic at all, for example.

I don't think it's necessarily required watching, but it does help some of the references make sense

I was just sad they didn't bring in any of the live action worlds. Seeing the George Reeves Superman and Adam West Batman Earths dissolve would be a fun callback.

Chandler feels too old. He's 59.

Am missing it, but do we normally hear every actor considered for roles and if they accept it not like we have for GL? First Brolin, now Chandler, does somebody at DC have loose lips?

Let me know when they cast someone, otherwise this might as well be fan casting

99% of the time "in talks" means the gig is theirs, the contract is basically negotiated, and all that's left is to sign. Especially when either Deadline (in this case), The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, or The Wrap report it.

In other words, Kyle Chandler is playing Hal Jordan.

He's cast.

All of the other names, including Josh Brolin, were merely in consideration/on a casting wish list. Not "in talks." And no, we don't often hear about those names during this process, unless there are multiple rounds of auditions, which wasn't the case for this role (seeing as older, established actors of Chandler's and Brolin's stature don't often have to audition). Jeff Sneider, who reported the earlier names, is an independent reporter trying to get his paid newsletter off the ground, so he's been doing a bit of unconventional reporting from time to time in order to attract eye balls, and merely reported on the step before this step. He reported that Brolin was the first name they went to, who then ultimately passed (which could have been for any number of reasons, most commonly being scheduling conflicts), then Jeff gave us a couple other names on the list. We have no idea who else passed, if anyone, but Chandler now has the part, and at this point it would be extremely rare if it didn't work out.

As for Chandler being too old, as has been reported, this particular iteration sees an older, grizzled Hal Jordan taking on the mentor role to a younger/greener (no pun intended) John Stewart. Reading the tea leaves, seeing as Chandler's contract DOESN'T include any films - just these eight episodes - many are speculating that he dies at the end of the series and that John Stewart will then likely become the main DCU Lantern going forward, across both film and TV.

Thanks.

Cool concept. Maybe they should have gone older then. I know he's unhirable, but Mel Gibson as the old guy having to deal with the young hot shot would be cool.

Grizzled Coach Hal sounds amazing and a great way to bridge into John and even Guy/Kyle/Et al. I like how they're going with Lanterns as space cops, because as awesome as their story and powers are, that's totally what they do.

Told in the tone of True Detective, which the filmmakers keep mentioning, with Damon Lindelof writing, and this is starting to have the hallmarks of a home run show.

Did their dumbass CMO relent on scrapping the HBO brand in favor of Max? Because it still baffles me that he thinks/thought there is more equity in the name Max vs HBO.

For those who haven't seen Rebel Ridge yet on Netflix (which released earlier this month), A) it's really damn good, and B) one of the many reasons it's really damn good is because of lead Aaron Pierre, who gives a star-making performance.

Dude has my vote here for sure.
