I'm not sure why you think this eliminates that, I think it's just setting that up, getting Zeb back on the board in a more useful place than where we left him.

He was at the base and knew the pilot. Nothing really ties him into being a space cop. The Ghost crew would definitely be tight with some of the veterans around the galaxy.

Yikes. If the show is at all centered on finding Ezra, they'd face a pretty tough task in explaining why his best friend/big brother figure wasn't involved in the search.

I don't say this flippantly, but for us Rebels fans, if there is a scene coming up with Hera, Sabine, Zev, Chopper all on the Ghost with Ezra and/or Ahsoka, that's going to be better than the Avengers "circle" from the previews to the 2012 movie.
I would bet dollars to donuts that Freddie Prinze Jr. appears as Kanan in a flashback along the way as well.

I think it has to be a red herring, don't think a Mandalorian would leave beskar laying around like that, with as rare and precious as it is.
There's definitely different groups of Mandos out there. Now I'm starting to lean towards Christopher Lloyd's character being some hard-ass old Mando leader who decided to emulate Gar Saxon and side with the Emipre for wealth and glory.

It just doesnt seem plausible to me that any Mandalorians would work with the Empire, or its remnants, given the whole "the Empire destroyed their planet" aspect.
I do like the of it being a misdirection to put the New Republic on the tail of the Mandalorians, its the sort of thing a person like Moff Gideon would think of. He knows they will be a potential thorn in his side, so putting them on the radar of the New Republic as a way of removing them from his path makes sense.
Lot of interesting seeds planted the last two episodes, especially now that we have confirmation Gideon didn't make it to his trial.

This. Beskar is like gold. Also not sure how a piece would just break off. Seems like something Gideon would do, too.
Mmaybe they used a Beskar weapon to breach the ship - remember the Armorer kind of chided Din about the Beskar spear and how it should only be used for armor. If there's a rogue Mando group out there, you could definitely see them using Beskar weapons.

I did not know that Christopher Lloyd would be making an appearance this season. Then again, I guess it only makes sense that he would have a part in a show called The ManDeLorean.
