It was ok, not bad, but also not great either. I do think that Andor completely reset the bar in terms of expectations for all Star Wars shows going forward. I've enjoyed the first two seasons of The Mandalorian but I loved Andor. They'll have to step up their game if they want to be seen the same way.
I don't think they want to be seen in the same way. Andor is geared towards adults, Mando is geared towards the whole family. My wife and kids have zero interest in Andor, even my hardcore fan who has watched Obi-Wan, Tales of the Jedi, Rebels, and Clone Wars with me. But she also got bored by Rogue One because she's a kid, and it's a serious ass movie.

I recognize the quality of Andor but I love Mando significantly more. Nothing in Andor comes close to the Skywalker moment for me. Mando has really low lows but also has some of the best moments as well.

A lot of it is I just don't care about the Andor and rebellion timeline/storyline anymore. Mando gives the hope for something new and different, even if they waste time on pointless episodes.

That's definitely a fair take. There is only so much more Rebellion we can squeeze out of Star Wars. At least in the timeframe immediately preceding the original movie.

The Mandalorian has the potential to open up a ton of avenues to explore post-empire.

This is my feeling, as well.

I love this idea of getting more Mandalorian culture and exploring parts of this universe I have never experienced before. I'm in my 30's, not a massive star wars fanboy, and don't have kids, so I'm not watching the cartoons.

I'm so disinterested in the civil war timeline that I still haven't seen Andor. I thought Rogue One was one of the best Star Wars movies we've gotten from any studio, and definitely the best of the Disney era. However, I just don't have a desire to watch Andor because I'm over that timeline.

I think you should consider it. It was really freaking good.

Was a generally entertaining episode, and definitely looked good with some good action sequences, but after watching Andor it took a minute to recalibrate to the less sophisticated plot and dialogue, and some of the silliness overall.

The repetition bothered me a bit, but I guess that's another price to pay of having so much stuff happen in a different series, so they have to set it all up again.

By far the worst part was rebuilding the droid. He completely blew himself up, and in a lava river to boot.

There shouldn't even have been enough for a statue, and definitely not enough to bring it back "to life".

But all of a sudden these little guys can do it no problem? Maybe they should have looked into that as a way to honor him instead of making him a statue then?

The whole thing is just stupid and ruins a great death and reduces the stakes going forward, as is always the case when you can just magically bring characters back to life. Really questionable decision from the showrunners there.
You're absolutely right, but if Rise of Skywalker could get away with bring back Palpatine AND "killing"/bringing back Chewie in a span of a few minutes, they probably figured hey, what the hell.

Also I have to disagree with Andor resetting the bar for Mando. Mando already contains several of the most widely loved episodes of any Star Wars content, so they just need to aim for their own bar rather than Andor.

Agreed. A handful of us have basically repeated the same experience, which was starting this episode with Andor fresh in our minds.
They are different kinds of shows, and both are very enjoyable. You just have to not expect one when watching the other.

I'm hoping we get lot of the various Mandalorians receiving a lot of screentime, as I find their plots to currently be the most interesting. Goes without saying anything Grogu related is welcome.
I could do without seeing Carl Weathers character or planet again, but I know that wont be the case.
I'm sure other people like it, and its not hard to just let those scenes go by without it ruining my experience.

I think someone should take the scenes with Karl Weathers talking to that pirate and mix it with "Forgot about Dre"

Is it me, or is Carl Weathers' acting a little bit over the top?

Just to add to the conversation going on here, Mandalorian is much more of a fan service show imo whereas Andor is much more of a political intrigue show.

I like everything going on with Mando, but the sidekicks can be eye-rolling at times. Karl Weathers (who I have enjoyed for the most part) not wanting to have a drink at the old bar turned school, but was willing to have a shootout right in front of it would be one example lol.

I don't think so. I think it's just his character. He comes across to me as having a kind of used car salesman vibe and questionable morals, but also trying to legitimately build something on the up and up. His character is someone who wants to try to make others feel important as a way of doing business, but he also wants to be seen as important himself.

Greefdo Kargrissian?

Youd have to think Carl Weathers name got tossed out there for Lando in the late 70s.

I saw that differently. He's not going to defile the school or give in to the pirates, and he's willing to get into a shootout to defend what he's built on Nevarro. That it happened in front of the school wasn't really his choice. Vane wasn't budging and refused to go to his office.

Hahaha

Maybe similar to Lando, but Lando was more suave and a little less willing to get his hands dirty. Lando was a hustler. Greef Karga is a businessman.

That's pretty much how I took that opening scene too. I suppose it could be a natural kid instead of a foundling, but I don't know enough about the Mando bar mitzvah ceremony to parse out what the differences would be.
