Reading through the comments on YouTube, it sounds like SNL kind of ruined the joke by having a laugh track. There are a couple of people who claim they were at the taping, and it was crickets in the theater. It makes Jost's reaction make a lot more sense.

From posters on r/livefromnewyork who were there, that's not accurate. Che apparently told ticket holders in the lobby/lounge to not laugh, but never told the standby line and those were the few people who were laughing.

Reading through those comments and there are some people who say it was dead silent when they watched live, but there's a laugh track added on there now.

I really don't know what to believe, because I didn't watch it live. Watching it on YouTube, it's clear that Colin noticed the lack of laughter, but I don't really notice it in the YouTube video. Maybe it's a bit less, bud nothing remarkable to me. Also, though, I don't understand why SNL would add a laugh track, because it ruins what was clearly the best joke on there in forever.

Same. I watch maybe half the skits, if that, and Weekend Update, but fast forward through everything else. Will likely watch the entire hour-and-a-half of this episode, though.

Bargatze slow out of the chute but he found his stride as the monologue went on.

That first joke he made about showers….he had to have screwed that up. I refuse to believe that was an actual joke/punchline.

The "Lake Beach" music video is the funniest musical segment I've seen on SNL since Lonely Island left. I was almost in tears. And the Dave Grohl cameo was the cherry on top.

I'd never heard of the host but this is one of the best episodes I've seen in a while.

Kinda weird how so many of y'all don't know him.
I'm far from a hip, cutting edge dude but he's been pretty popular in the stand up world for a number of years now.

All in all, that was the best episode in forever, if only judging by the amount of sketches we didn't skip. My parents are in town, had no idea who Bargatze was, and they were cracking up the entire time. In addition to Lake Beach, a few other gems…

Bargatze is one of the biggest stand ups out there right now.


The best (IMO). I'm super excited it was announced he's coming back to San Antonio.

His bit on Starbucks is one of my favorites from any comedian. And 100% clean routine which really shows his talent. I don't mind bad language, but so many comedians over use it as a crutch.
