Yeah, I skipped over a bit of that. I thought perhaps there was supposed to a video that didn't get inserted into the stream.

$11.3 million now. At least in part because my wife insisted I go back and add the entire plushie set to my pledge for my daughter.

Currently reading the last SP. It's great so far.

I'm reading it too and trying my hardest not to look for spoilers on who Nomad might be.
I'm about halfway through and have an idea or 2, but it is definitely hard not to go back and try and figure it out as I go!

i mean...the most obvious guess is it's sigzil because Nomad seems to know Kal and he was an apprentice to Wit/Hoid in Stormlight.

But I'm not far enough along to know if that's going to hold up as a guess or not.
Just got to this part of the book last night and looks like you were right! Wish I remembered more of his character from the books.

Not a big fan of investiture being broken down into measurable units like mana with powers being available at a certain unit #, or using a certain amount of those units. It's like a video game jumped to page, or more likely the page laying the way for a Cosmere game.

Still a somewhat fun read.

It's tough because he's tried so hard to lay out good rules for his magic systems to the point that they're practically science. That lends itself to a sciency planet like advanced Scadrians being able to quantify investiture. Sometimes that approach is lame but Sanderson generally applies the rule of cool that let's those hard-ish bound laws be broken in the name of the narrative, but rarely overdoes it.

Wind and Truth is coming 12/6. I'm debating when to start my re-read of the series.

We already saw it with Breaths in Warbreaker. It just doesn't feel as science-y

I see that in some places online, but I don't see any official announcement on that. The most recent announcement I've seen from Sanderson is that his due date for version 4.0 is in June.

Do you have a link to an official announcement?

I don't have the press announcement, but it is scheduled to release at this year's Dragonsteel convention.

Start re-reading now. You will pick up entire subplots that you missed the first time around completely to keep you interested. I've probably read the entire series 4-5 times and I still find something new every time. It's only 2.2 million words.

I just did a quick google search based on this post to baseline it with the Wheel of Time series.

https://towardsdatascience.com/my-computer-reads-the-wheel-of-time-faab61d18e9f

According to this source, there are 4.4 million words in the WoT series. I have read both WoT and the Stormlight series in full thus far and wanted to see a good comparison. More words total in WoT but the words/book count is lighter.

Interesting to think about! While I love the Stormlight series, in general I loved reading the WoT books a little more. This could be due to a multitude of reasons. I have never re-read any WoT or Stormlight books. Not sure I read fast enough or have enough dedicated reading time to re-read much right now.

One thing I loved for WoT was the tor.com truncated readings of the books for refreshing myself. I just posted about how I never reread any of the WoT books but I guess if you count reading the tor.com summary-style reading then I did do that in advance of the final few books!

I'm listening to them on Audible with my daughter, and she catches things I didn't on my read throughs.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little scared to read this one. Feel pretty sure at least one (probably 2) of my favorite characters is getting offed in this one. Certainly not expecting a happy ending, and there's probably going to be a cliffhanger or two in this "mid-series finale."

Based on Sunlit man we can theorize that at minimum, Sigzil(definite), Hoid(definite), and Kaladin(likely because Sigzil thought he saw Kaladin when it turned out to be Hoid) survive the entire series

For people doing a reread to prep, are you just doing SA and the relevant novellas/short stories, or are there other cosmere books you will reread before this book drops?

Just a heads up, they're releasing at least two chapters a week on reactormag.com between now and when the book relases.

They're already up to chapter 9 and already some pretty bonkers things have started happening.

I'd read the Wax and Wayne books. By book 4 they have a lot of interaction with the Cosmere.

Trying to psyche myself up for a Stormlight reread seeing as how we are less than 3 months from the end of this arc. I can't say when the last time that I've reread a series, but I've heard readers catch so much more stuff on this series from a reread so I'll give it a shot(and it will be a good refresher). See ya'll in December.

I just started reading the Lost Metal after a couple of years from finishing the first 6 Mistborn books. I know I am missing on a lot of details from characters mentioned in passing and have never sat down and tried to put all of the pieces together from the other books like the Stormlight Archive. Is there a good resource, like a map of characters/planets and cross-overs available to use as a reference when you have no idea who a particular character is? I read so many books that I tend to have the details go in one ear and out the other as soon as I finish a book.

I'm caught up on SA and the novellas and have read all of the secret project books except for the Sunlit Man. Still have never gotten to Elantris or that collection of short stories.

I'm tempted to reread the SA books ahead of book 5.
