SP2 was a fun one. Nice palate cleanser from the cosmere overload that is SP1 and my reread of Stormlight this year.

SP1 spoiler, sorry but it's too perverse to not share on this forum:

Go to horny Braize.

By the way, my favorite things on cremposting (assuming this is where you got it) are the constant references to Dalinar's butt.

As a Doug, I like this line from the new book

That line makes me think of Douglas Adams stuff (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series)...thats a good thing.

Special Project 1 and Special Project 2, is a reference to the quarterly books made by Sanderson during the pandemic who then turned around and sold them along with giftboxes as a part of a Kickstarter, which happened to be the biggest Kickstarter in history. Kickstarter is a website where creatives will promise a product assuming the crowdfunding reaches a certain level, Brandon didn't read the guidelines and actually delivered on what he promised. Crowdfunding is where money is raised in the aggregate by a large group of people to raise money for projects. An Aggregate is a sum total.

If this doesn't sum up every relationship ever.

In light of the writers' strike, they better hope not that Brandon becomes a scab.

Duh.

I should have realized secret project but was trying to fit book titles to "sp" and failing.

I only got the ebook versions of the secret project

Finished SP2 the other day. It was a "meh" overall for me. My least favorite Sanderson book I think.

Still has the best chapters even if he only nominally "gets better".

So I just finished a reread of Rhythm of War and I've got to say, it was better on the second read. The weakest parts are absolutely the Venli/Eshonai sections, but on the reread, I found myself sympathizing with Shallan more, because I knew what was coming, and Kalidan and his tiredness was not as often as I remembered.

I still think it's probably the weakest of the 4 books, but not due to it's own weakness, but to the strength of the other three.

Did anyone hear find themselves unable to get through the Wax and Wayne portion of Mistborn? I loved the "original" mistborn, but have tried twice and haven't made it 30 pages into the first Wax and Wayne book, but I've heard they're becoming fairly important int he universe.

Wax & Wayne are definitely a different speed compared to Mistborn Era 1 and the other big series, but for me theyre without a doubt the most 'fun' series Sanderson has done so far. Awesome mixes of all 3 big Scadrian magic systems, lots of shootin and punchin, and some fantastic story and characters. There's also massive cosmere implications throughout, so yeah you should try and poke your head back in there.

It has its faults and I wouldn't call it my favorite series by any stretch, but it's a ripping good yarn.

IMO, the first book was a bit harder to get into at first. Then about halfway through it was getting better, and I enjoyed the next books a lot more

I feel like W&W gets progressively better with each book. The last one (just released a few months ago) in particular is awesome. The first two feel more like popcorn reads.

Yep, agreed with this. I wasn't initially as into W&W as much as the Mistborn stuff, but by the 2nd I think I was bought in for sure.

I've only read Elantris, Mistborn era 1, Mistborn era 2 (minus the Lost Metal), and now on Warbreaker.

W&W was harder to get into at first since I was invested in the era 1 crew, but I ended up loving it.

Some folks find it helpful to switch series, then come back to era 2. It's a very different scale than era 1. The character work is amazing though.

I think this is what I did. Read a bunch of auxiliary Cosmere novels.

I'm liking it but have been struggling at the same time (only 1/3 of the way through). I think I've just been too tired lately. Just read about 20 pages but may stop for the night. Have been considering doing audiobooks so I can just passively listen on nights when I'm tired.

You have to be quite the nerd to get that meme.

Also, wth Texags? I have had pictures of guitars blocked for being a sensitive image, yet they allow that?

I feel like with era 1, that was his baby. He had it well planned out and well executed.

We already know that the first book was really just a novella to dig into a thought. I don't think it was as well thought out initially which left him having to recon concepts. I think he got into and decided to uses this to bridge the gap to the cosmere.

In Stormlight, the left hand is treated like the nipple is here, with it being viewed as an object to be covered if you are a decent woman.

Reddit has all sorts of safehand porn memes as a result.

I just read through Warbreaker for the first time.

Not a bad book. Trying to connect it to what we know from Stormlight about Vasher and Vivenna.

Book was interesting. Pretty predictable, more or less, but not bad.

That was one of the last background books that I needed to be fully caught up.

One interesting thing is Hoid. I wonder if it was purposeful that He's more active in Stormlight vs very bit parts in other series or if Sanderson just decided to ramp up his presence after the fact.

Spoiler alert

If I remember right in the most recent Wax & Wayne book he had more of a presence and influence on things.
