Finally, something official to look at! But somehow, still no release date.

Will be premiered at the NYFF on 9/27, and released on Netflix in Fall/Winter 2019.

Is that Pesci on the left? Excited about his return and this movie overall...

...though I also have to say I'm pretty nervous about how good it will actually be. Hoping for the best but just have a weird feeling about it.

Yep, that's Pesci.

My main concern is this feeling like a "Netflix movie", and not the event that it is. I mean, a Scorsese movie with DeNiro, Pacino, and getting Pesci out of retirement?

That's the stuff movie theaters were made for. It's kind of a bummer, actually.

I thought I read last week that they had indeed decided to go with a cinematic release on this and then go with the Netflix stream a few weeks later?

I am going to bet that they release it to the big screen for award season. They did the same for "Roma".

Teaser trailer says "In theaters this fall" and then follows with "And Netflix".

A Netflix only release woulda been a disappointment.

I really wouldn't expect this in any theaters near you unless you're in NY or LA.

I'm soo down for this. Looks fantastic. Need something to mix it from the sequels and superhero movies.

I'd rather see it in a theater, but Netflix will do.

Hard to not get a 'Casino' and 'Goodfellas' vibe seeing DeNiro and Pesci back on the screen together.

Pacino as Hoffa is...different. But this definitely looks interesting.

I remember Scorsese not being initially happy with the aging technology. It looks good here. I'd like to hear more backstory on that.

So awesome seeing Joe Pesci again

It's kind of crazy that Pesci and Pacino had never worked together before.

Sort of like like Leo/Pitt. You kind of figure they had, but they hadn't.

I cannot wait for this. My favorite filmmaker making a coda to a genre he practically invented is must see for me. I'll echo what a lot of other people are saying in that this is a film made for the big screen and to have it on Netflix is a minor disappointment. That being said, in the Marvel era in which we now live, films like this are few and far between.

Looking at the cast on imdb (Harvey f-ing Keitel is in this!) I see that there are also three brilliant actors who were in "Boardwalk Empire":

Stephen Graham (I so wanted his Capone to get a spinoff series), Bobby Cannavale and Jack Huston.

This could be the greatest cast in years.......

Not a great poster, IMO.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's fan made, taken from a high quality paparazzi shot. That poster has been around for quite a while.

Deniro has been taking the money roles for those 10 years, I consider him a sellout now

Im kind of surprised more movies aren't 4 hours long these days.

Not so much movies released in theaters... but with streaming services, we're all used to binging an 8 episode season in 1 hour increments. What's the difference at this point? We'll just watch a long movie over a week's time like we do everything else.

I can see a new extra way to make movies for studios on the horizon where they release for wide cinematic release the concise and "regular" version of the movie, and then release a much more extended deleted scenes version for Netflix or another entity to make even more money from that avenue. Think the Complete Godfather Epic with its awesome deleted scenes that left viewers wondering, "how the hell did Coppola leave THAT scene out of the movie?"

Tarantino did this for The Hateful Eight earlier this year on Netflix. Added footage, rearranged a few scenes, etc for four one-hour episodes. Could definitely be a fun model going forward...

I'll take a long movie on a streaming service over another series that you're supposed to watch 20 or 30 episodes of in order to "really get into it" before the big pay-off comes in episode 72. (I exaggerate... a little)

Hope this inspires a trend.

i'm sure there are a lot of people who feel exactly like this. it's all basically just "content" at this point and the streaming services make it easy to consume that content at your own preferred pace.

but personally, i still approach movies (even Netflix originals) differently than series. when watching a movie (at least the first time), i like an uninterrupted viewing experience. so the thought of movies with 4 hour run times doesn't really appeal to me.

as for the Irishman, between the trailer and the run time, i'm starting to get a little worried.
