No, he won it because he really did have the best adapted screenplay of all the nominees this year.

Not my favorite Coen work but I enjoyed it. It was front and center on Netflix when it debuted.

Can range widely depending on the circumstance. In my understanding there's almost always a writer on set, but the original writer may have no involvement past the point where he or she sold the original script. Some directors also write their own (or other) screenplays.

Definitely. While I do think BP has been propped up more than other better Marvel films, the visuals were incredible. Definitely worthy of an award there.

Wasn't there a controversy where the real family of the Green Book dude was upset over how the movie portrayed him? And didn't Ali publicly apologized for accepting the role without researching the family's perspective? And now it won for both supporting actor and screenplay? What am I missing here?

In the In Memorium segment, they show the great character actor James Karen. And the quick movie clip they used for him? My favorite horror film "Return of the Living Dead."

A clip from Return of the Living Dead just got played on the Oscars. F-ing awesome.
