Roma cleaning up with 10 nominations. And both actresses nominated, which is pretty awesome. I doubt Yalitza wins it but I had my fingers crossed for a nom for her.

- Cooper not getting a Director nod is probably the biggest snub

- Always drives me nuts how they expanded Best Picture to 10 slots yet never use them. Those two slots should be used for something. It would add two more films to people's radar and open people's eyes to some great films. I would have thrown First Man, Spiderverse, Beale Street, Mary Poppins, or Eighth Grade on there.

- Eighth Grade got nothing Was expected to but was hoping. I loved that movie.

- Seemed like there was momentum for a Cold War Best Picture nomination with it getting Cinematography and Best Director. Was kind of surprised it didn't get Best Picture as well with that momentum.

Oh wow, didn't even notice the Cooper snub. Kinda crazy. (Still, it is Cuaron's award to lose at this point.)

I've seen 5 of the 8 and I would give it to Roma in a landslide.

And one more thing. Toni Collette's performance blew each and every single one of these out of the water.

Haven't seen The Wife or Can You Ever Forgive Me, but I'll definitely agree that she deserved the nom over Olivia Colman.

But my wife and I made a resolution to watch all of the nominees this year. So we've got a lot of movies to watch...

Eighth grade was much better than Vice. What does Vice have that gets a nod this season ?

Star power and an Oscar-worthy performance.

Eighth Grade is definitely more deserving.

(And I still think Rami deserves it over Bale.)

Speaking of which, Sam Rockwell over Chalamet is pretty ridiculous.

He was hardly even in Vice, and not doing much when he was there. Chalamet knocked it out of the park in Beautiful Boy.

Agree. I love Rockwell, but the dimwit with a southern accent? He already won for that.

I'd put BP's nomination for Production Design above both those, a category it absolutely deserves to win. The world design of Wakanda was incredible.

And I have no problem with it getting a Best Picture nom, it had massive cultural relevance and was a really good movie.
