Every time I see "BrBa" I read it as "brah-ba". Every single time.

I'm not saying we need more interesting characters than what they have provided thus far. I'm saying in the episodes down the line, I'd rather see more interesting characters introduced than going back to rehash BB ones like Gus.

Here's an article on some Breaking Bad references made during Better Call Saul. Some have been mentioned here but definitely not all:

They left a lot of unanswered questions about Gus' past (like Mike's), so I think he's probably the only BB character that they can give a semi relevant role too where it doesn't seem forced. We knew that Mike knew Gus for X years before he gave Saul the contact to introduce him to Walt. I don't think its jumping the shark at all to connect the dots and make Gus a part of the story. If point A (current time in BCS) is Mike and Gus not knowing each other and point C is Mike letting Saul introduce him to Walt, obviously point B is them meeting, working together, and growing to trust one another. Hard to see how this show can catch up to BB time (which we've heard it will at some point) without that part of the story being told on screen.

When Jimmy placed a call on a sidewalk pay phone in Episode 3, a squiggly graffiti tag on its face plate said "JPi" the likely signature of Jesse Pinkman, who (played by Aaron Paul) Walter teamed with throughout "Breaking Bad" on their chemical adventures and, during the time span of prequel "Saul," would have been an up-to-no-good teen.

I doubt we see Gus until season 2 or 3.

The problem with including Gus is that he can never interact with Jimmy who's still the main character in the show. And I doubt Mike starts interacting with people that high up the criminal food chain in a relatively short time after he starts getting involved in the ABQ underworld. I really doubt we see him in the series, but I highly doubt we'll see him this season. Maybe if it's the very last scene of the season.

I remember seeing something on twitter (I think from Aaron Paul) about some more surprises this season, so I think we'll get another Breaking Bad cameo, but I'm not sure who. Maybe Hank?

I'm really enjoying it as its own show. It's got a way different vibe than Breaking Bad to me even if they're similar visually.

When does the second season start? Guarantee they will end this season on a huge cliff hanger.

I'd expect it to be at least season 2-3 before Gus enters the picture at all. His reputation (at least prior to Walt which got him killed) was one of caution. It will likely take Mike a fair amount of time doing dirty out in ABQ before he would hit Gus' radar.

Keep in mind that Saul and Gus never met in BB, so limiting his interaction to Mike in Better Call Saul wouldn't be a stretch by any means. That's how it always was.

I do think he probably plays a prominant role at some point because he was Mike's primary employer. If they are going to develop Mike and show his path to BB (like they are with Saul), that will have to be the case.

I expect in some future episode for Saul to call Mike for some assistance. Cut to Mike sitting in his car at Los Pollos Hermanos, finishing his lunch. Gus' Volvo will be visible in the background.

That would be a cool nod to BB, but I really hope Gus plays no role whatsoever in the show, beyond perhaps some reference such as that. As squirrelly/slimy as Saul was, there's NO DOUBT he has a plethora of interesting clients to keep this show robust and vital, and on its own track.

So you want the show to just not acknowledge that at some point between now and BB day 1 of the timeline, Mike gets to know Gus through working for him, enough to introduce him to Walt through Saul? Mike was pretty much 100% Gus's henchman at the time we meet him in BB, I don't see how they stay true to the overall facts here without showing it build to that point.

I know this show is about Saul, but Mike is also a co-star and isn't just here for cameos and BB nostalgia. I'll be surprised if Gus isn't a semi-regular character at some point....yes, maybe not until end of season 2 or beginning of 3, but it will happen IMO.

Keep in mind that this show is as much about the transformation of Jimmy to Saul as it is about crooked cop Mike to hitman Mike.

Mike began as a cop who skimmed some cash from evidence, but wasn't a killer. That changed when he avenged his son's death, however that killing is justified. He has already discovered that he can make money using his cop skills in private practice (to catch thieves).

So far, Mike has done unethical things for justified reasons and trespassed for money, but his transformation is not complete. There will need to be more forces that force Mike down the road to where he is a killer for hire. I bet that one of those forces (in later seasons) will be named Gustavo Fring.

It looks like right now Mike's only motivation is to be with his granddaughter. Other than that, he really doesn't seem to care about life. That is if he truly is only working as a parking lot attendant.

But it does look like, from the previews, that his interest is peaked with the vet who said he could get him other work.

I don't think he would do anything he viewed as risking him being with his granddaughter though. Perhaps he's forced into working for Gus in order to save his granddaughter. Maybe family illness or something he has to pay for.

I think they need to have a good idea of how long the Show will last before deciding when to bring in gus in any way.

2, 4, or 7 seasons would affect it a lot.

As others have said, the Gus we know would not immediately meet Mike... unless Mike is somehow behind Gus adding the cloak and dagger measures, but imo Gus would have been cautious from the start.

Spoiler-ish:

The actor who played Gus has said he wasn't interested in being a guest star. He thinks Gus was worthy of his own stand alone series. However, maybe he'll change his mind once it's clear that a Gus stand alone won't happen.
