In case anyone was wondering, to order all canon Star Wars trade paperbacks (collections of comic books), including preorders of announced tons, would cost you $313.60 on Amazon. That's 26 volumes.

Speaking of aotc and the Lars, it's been a while but I remember Papa Lars saying he will go look for schmi when his leg heals... which was cut off. Found it odd.

Probably just meant when the area where it was cut off heals

2. Owen is not Shmi's real son. Owen says that to Anakin as gesture, more than anything. They are only step brothers.

Ah poodu you're right. Wato said he sold Shmi to him 10 years ago and Owen at the time Anika meets him was much older than that.

Didn't take long to blow that theory

I actually just watched AOTC yesterday and had the same thought regarding Dooku/Obi-Wan.

My thoughts are that Dooku wanted Obi-Wan and the Jedi Order to stop trusting in the Senate and the Republic, which would lead up to Palpatine's plan of painting them as traitors.

Had Obi-Wan believed him, then things might've gotten interesting. He might have then acted as if he was working in opposition to the Sith the entire time, and helped the Jedi overthrow him, while trying to take the Chancellor's seat for himself.

I think a more interesting question is --

Was Palpatine behind the assassination attempt on Padme? The assumption is that it was part of his grand plan, but was he specifically trying to get Anakin to fall for Padme, and if so, how could he have possibly known they'd assign Anakin to protect and escort her?

I thought it was fairly obvious that the Japanese fish alien was the one that ordered that assassination. All Palpatine did was use that as an opportunity to get Anakin involved, and possibly to get Obi-wan killed.

He specifically suggested Obi-wan and Anakin be assigned.

I don't think palps specifically intended to have padme fall for ani... he would adapt and use what he could to persuade ani. He was also putting seeds of distrust with the Jedi order because they wouldn't make him a Jedi master.

Remember that the Trade Federation (Asian-sounding fish people) were always under the control of Palpatine.

Now , I can buy that he adapted to the situation of Padme/Anakin once the assassination failed, but there's no way he always meant for her to survive both attempts.

What possible reason does he have for killing her? She's no threat to him.

Don't believe Gunray was still in cahoots with Sidious when the assassination was attempted. Star Wars is many things, but subtle isn't exactly one of them. The movie makes a point to tell the audience that it was Gunray wanting her dead, and not Dooku like she assumed.

I think it had something to do with the debate about raising an army.

But why are we trying to figure out if George Lucas's story made sense?

The scene with Padme starting the rebellion was filmed. Wish they'd kept it in.

The way Padme dies is probably my biggest gripe with the prequels.

Wasn't Obi-Wan just about to get executed? What would have been the point of telling him?

Slashfilm has a write up about how the Story Group might be laying the groundwork on Snoke's identity. There are some spoilers for the recent books here:

http://www.slashfilm.com/who-is-snoke/

Everything they say makes sense both with the stories we've already seen and what Lucasfilm may try to do.

They come to the same conclusion that I have in this regard. I agree with them that the breadcrumbs are there to see how they are planning to go about expanding on the current story.

So, I get on the treadmill the other day and ROTJ is on and I caught something I had never noticed before in all the dozens of times I have seen it since 1983.

At the point on Endor where the rebels are over-powered and have to surrender at the shield generator, as they march Han, Leia, and the rebel soldiers out of the facility there is a panoramic view moving left to right showing all the rebels soldiers, hands over heads, and scores of imperial troops and AT-ST's walking around. As it pans across there is a rebel soldier in Biker Scout armor, helmet removed, with his hands over his head.

It also happens to be the rebel soldier that I have seen some of you on this thread refer to as "gramps" and theorized (jokingly I think) that it was Rex (or at least at some point someone at Lucasfilm would declare it cannon).

Must have been a deleted scene that some of the rebels put on Imperial trooper armor as part of the plan to infiltrate the facility. Anyway, thought it was kind of cool to pluck that out all these years later. Anyone ever notice that?

I did, but only after many many viewings, like you. Pretty good attention to detail there by someone. Director, costumer, etc. Shows there were other things going on.

If you look closely in ROTJ as Han and crew enter the shield bunker, you can see the old Rebel start to take his backpack and uniform off. Only on for a fraction of a second but you can see it happening.

must have also edited out the part where the Ewoks put a special chemical on all their arrows, logs and rocks that renders all physical armor useless.

yes. I didn't collapse to the floor and lay there... I also wasn't part of the Emperor's elite fighting unit.

And I should have said a second after that scene, you see "Gramps" putting on a helmet.

I feel like I accomplished something today with this tidbit of wisdom :-)

Pretty commonly known in the nerd universe that the Fox execs insisted they cut the scene that showed the Ewok warriors peeing on the arrowheads and spear points, ala the Vietcong and punji sticks, just before the battle started. Mandalorians were using contraband Ewok piss for hit jobs dating back to the Old Republic. Everyone knows that.

It's also not well known that the Ewokian phrase "Yub Nub" translates into "Kill them all and let C-3PO sort them out!"

They could have at least created a warrior class of Ewoks. Maybe in the Gremlins vein. Furry non-warrior caste and a non-furry warrior caste.
