Loved Dragonball Z.

Mid90, I mentioned the church scene last night. I agree, it was obvious as well as his having a beard, roaming around performing good deeds and discussions that he could change the world but is the world ready.

I don't feel as though it detracted from the movie, thoroughly enjoyed it

Didn't mean to imply that you stated it detracted

I get he's to be a servant for mankind, but Christ figures usually die for mankind. Supes did not.

I liked it. I don't know if I can judge it critically, though. I will say that it was infinitely better than superman returns, which I didn't dislike.

C+ from me, maybe stretches to a B- if I was feeling nice. Agree with several of the points that Keegan made, and I eventually found myself checking my watch quite a bit. That said, it was better than most if not all of the previous Superman movies, although I think everyone agrees that bar isn't very high. I'd put it a notch below TDKR, another one where i found myself checking my watch.

Except he does in doomsday.

Was Doomsday part of the allegory in the film that's being discussed?

No?

Then it's irrelevant.

***MILD SPOILERS (movie structure)***

Just got back from watching Man of Steel for the 2nd time and it was even better! I enjoyed it Thursday night at the Wal-Mart premiere, but found myself over analyzing the cinematography and other aspects of the movie. I was also in quite the frenzy finally getting to watch this movie after waiting over 2 years since first hearing about it.

Went back today with some family that wanted to watch it with me, so I was able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. I was absolutely blown away. I almost wish there were more flashback sequences because they were so touching and really made you feel what it might have been like for Clark growing up with abilities that he nor anyone else of this world could understand.

The action was obviously out of this world with the destruction being at an epic scale. I might have to go watch it one more time...maybe in IMAX this time before having to wait until Christmas to purchase the movie.

Thank you Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder for putting together this masterpiece...MOS 2 cannot get here soon enough!

Saw it today.

Loved it. Michael Shannon is the f-ing MAN!!! Easily the best part of the movie.

***spoilers***

Someone mentioned if anyone could figure out his real identity. I think our government easily figured it out. I mean, freakin' SPACESHIPS landed at the front door of the Kent farm and launched a pickup into the second floor. I think they can put 2 and 2 together.

The thing is: I doubt they reveal this information. Why harass Mrs. Kent about her son? The LAST thing our military would want to do is go after this all-powerful alien's mom. Nope.

No, as that last scene showed, they are more interested in where this guy IS NOW. Not what farm he grew up on. And I'm sure they'll be able to track down that he's now an employee of the Daily Planet. So, they know his name and where he works. But, as they found out, if he doesn't want them following him......they won't be able to.

I liken this to the end of the Avengers: SHIELD knows who all these people are and where to find them if they need them (and in the case of Dr. Banner: they always knew where he was. They just chose to keep their distance).

And I feel as if I've waited my entire life to see Superman not hold back and unleash his whole fury on an enemy. Superman and Zod going toe-to-toe practically leveled an entire city. Wow.

you've got to be kidding me. masterpiece?

sorry, 5 yrs from now the luster of this movies newness will wear off..and people will look back on it as a mediocre film.

i will agree though that its easily better than the Routhe Superman film or the Reeves ones. that doesn't say much though.

My only complaint was how easily Lois tracked him down. "How do you find a man whos spent his whole life hiding?" By following his job history, duh.
Other than that, loved it.

Good movie. It did what movies are supposed to do....entertain. I don't understand watching movies for the sole purpose of critiquing and nit picking everything.
Bruce Almighty
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Because some people actually enjoy critiquing films and want to know why they may like or dislike a film. There is nothing wrong with watching a movie for no other purpose than for entertainment, but there is also nothing wrong with those that like to look at films a little more deeply.

I loved it. Better than Iron Man 2,3,Thor, and captain America. Better plot, and more enjoyable than the avengers. Best interpretation of Superman to date.

Just got back from it and I have a question.

Didn't CK pretty much get outed to the whole world as Superman? Maybe I misread the whole thing but it seemed like everyone knew he was the Kents son, and that he was from Kansas.

Not positive, but think she discovered that all of Clark's alias' were names of people he grew up with, like the guy he saved on the bus (that worked at ihop), I think clark used his name while working those odd jobs.

I didn't get that everybody knew his secret but I thought for sure Lois Lane knew when he showed up at the Daily Planet. Even with his glasses on.

Uh... wow.

Have to pretty much be a fanboy to bring an opinion that strong to the table.

Avengers had a 92% RT score. MoS is at 57%. That's not a small difference.

Spoilers

Seems that only people should know are some people from Smallville, Lois, and probably the government at this point. I think the people of Smallville would respect him enough to not out him. Lois wouldn't do it. The government would not want to risk pissing him off IMO. And yes, pretty certain Lois already knows that Clark Kent at the end was Superman.

What. A. Ride.

**Spoilers**

This movie was completely unrealistic (death, destruction, etc) and I found it funny that an alien race would name something the "Genesis tube". However, it's superman, the entire premise is unrealistic.

Score, fight sequences, and effects were all FANTASTIC.

**/end spoilers**

In summation, this was one of few movies that I can remember that had my adrenaline pumping 100% of the time I was in the theater. Cavel is a natural for the role.

Wow!

Don't think I can completely process all of that yet, but I loved it. I can definitely see how some people wouldn't like the over the top action at the end, and it is hard to stomach how many people would have died in that fight. But, considering the powers those two possess, you have to think that's what would have happened had they squared off like that. Same thing happened in New York with the Avengers, though. Snyder was just better at showing more clearly the level of destruction.

Loved Shannon, Cavill and Crowe. Loved the Krypton stuff. Don't know if it will hold up long term and if it will age well, but I'm definitely satisfied I just saw the definitive Superman movie to date. Can't wait for sequels.

As for more recent movies, I liked it much better than Star Trek Into Darkness and Iron Man 3, not as good as TDK. Not as good of a "film" as Batman Begins, but I was more entertained.

Man, if Snyder could show just a little bit more restraint, I think it would have won more people over.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just got back from seeing the movie. I'm very torn about this film. I'm struggling with several aspects of it in my mind right now....so much that I felt I needed to voice some of my opinions on it. Overall, I liked it but thought there was some major issues.

***SPOILERS***

Pros:

Special Effects: thought they were outstanding. For a movie this filled with special effects, I never once found them distracting. Which is very rare.

I really enjoyed the acting in this film as I thought all the major roles were played very well.

Loved the flashback scenes during the movie to tell Clark's back story...felt like I was watching a comic book (if that makes sense).

Definitely disagree with some reviews I've seen about a thin plot. Thought the whole story arc was fantastic.

Cons:

The amount of destruction that was caused throughout the film was really, really bothersome to me. I get that much of the destruction was as a result of Zod and his actions. However, during many of the fight scenes I felt Superman had total disregard for his surroundings. From throwing his enemies through countless buildings to fighting Zod in the middle of Metropolis, it became a little much for me. I think my real issue with the destruction is how it's never addressed in the film. Obviously thousands of people were killed throughout the movie, maybe millions. With humans being a people that Superman is supposed to have such great caring for, it seemed like it never phased him.

Product placement. I've noticed it before in films but no film has ever bothered me with it like this one. In my opinion it was very blatant on several occasions. Seemed to cheapen the serious tone of the movie for some reason.

I stated above that I loved the story. I did see one potential issue with it though. I say potential because this is something that could be addressed in the next movie. Zod's only reason for threatening earth is because of Superman. So why wouldn't the people of earth completely resent Superman for bringing that kind of destruction and life loss upon them. I get that it wasn't Superman's choice to come here but we all know that won't stop a very large amount of people from being highly upset with him. Again, this could be something that is addressed in the next film. It may even be a major plot point.

Definitely the best Superman to date. I just feel as if there was such amazing potential with this movie that I wanted it to reach but didn't quite get there.

I think the Love story will continue to develop. I doubt Lois is already completely 100% in love with Superman yet.

I also thought the product placement, though not too obvious, was a bit distracting.

I give it a B-

Zod/Shannon was great. But the acting was TERRIBLE in general. Lois Lane was criminally underused...as were the Kent's.

The only 2 outstaning things in the movie were the fight in Kansas, and the soundtrack.

Everything else....meh.

And not better than Star Trek. For pacing alone. Synder just wanted to blow his was it seemed

Don't give a crap about RT nor am I a fanboy.

I also enjoyed it more than the Avengers. Avengers was mostly mindless action to me. Don't get me wrong, I had a blast and really liked it. But this was far deeper imo.
