JT and Yul's seasons I didn't watch. I went on a bit of a hiatous there for a few years/seasons. I remember hearing about JT though...and I think I saw that finale.

This season was okay before the merge, but lately it's been boring.

Why bother scripting if it is going to be as boring as it could possibly be? It's the exact opposite. If it were scripted, it would be interesting.

None of that was even remotely interesting. If you are going to script something, you have Whitney win immunity. Ozzy won a balancing challenge he had a 1 in 3 shot at winning THIS SHOW IS TOTALLY RIGGED.

Hopefully the boring episodes are over. Now they have to eat their own.

anyone who couldn't see this coming hasn't watched the show. even the producers knew...2 evictions in one ep, and a double eviction in another. I'm glad they did that, instead of extending it over 4 eps, like it normally would.

That said, I'm still trying to figure out why Albert and Sophie didn't make a move. The previews for next week throw off my thinking a bit, but let's play it out nonetheless.

at the beginning of last night's episode, there are a couple of sub-alliances, outside of the remaining losing Savaii tribe. so 9 people altogether with these allegiances:

sophie/albert/coach
sophie/albert/cochran(?)
coach/edna
coach/brandon (this is probably the most tenuous, but it certainly seems like brandon would follow coach, if that's what coach wanted)
coach/rick/brandon(?)/edna

dawn/whitney

so, as best as I could tell, coach could go whatever direction he wanted and have the numbers once the 2 savii women are gone. he could go with edna/rick/brandon and basically be the winner (none are immunity threats, and none would make much of a convincing case for the million). If I'm Albert or Sophie, I see that and know we need to cut that alliance at the knees before coach completely has the upper hand and can cut you out. once it gets to 7 (assuming you cut out dawn and whitney), the only real ally they have left is cochran and that's not enough (remember that the other 3 sided with coach when not getting out edna earlier in the season). so you don't want to get to 7.

if they take out Coach or Edna (still don't understand going after Edna, unless they're worried about voting out Coach and him playing the idol), then they have the voting base and can control the vote (assuming Dawn and Whitney stick with them).

It seemed like making the move at 9 was the best move. But I'm assuming based on things we've seen. It's possible that they know Brandon is going next (as the previews next week intimated) and if that's the case, then that gives them some cover at 7. But, if I'm Coach, I see the lay of the land and realize that Sophie and albert are MUCH better competitors and take them out. I guess they know that Coach buys into his bull*****enough and would never drop them for "weaker" players.

anyways, that's a lot of rambling...am I missing something? just seemed to make too much sense to make their move now.

Have any contestants ever made it as far as Rick and Edna with as little air time?

Is anybody really getting a winner's edit at this point? Usually they kind of start hammering that in at this point. Other than Sophie, I'm not really seeing anybody they are trying to convince me deserves to win.

the only reason i can figure albert and sophie didn't make the move last night... was they are thinking of jury votes... had they jumped ship now... they are traitors and disloyal to the family and coach and his minions would never vote for them... but if they wait till it is just their 7... they remained loyal as long as they could. I'm not saying that is the best move in trying to get to the end... but had they jumped... they would be assuring themselves of not getting the votes of the loyalists

I don't mind them (as long as I know going in that they're recap) because there's usually some nuggets of info that they reveal that help show the motivations behind a move that otherwise they didn't want to reveal because of the surprise.

you're definitely right that they were thinking of jury votes. I guess my concern is, once they're at 7, who can they pull over to their side? It seems like Cochran wants to play with them, but he'll go whatever way the wind blows. So they still need 1 of coach, brandon, edna or rick. I don't see how/why any of them would not stick with the other (again, unless they're intent on getting brandon out).

if the show were "rigged", what has happened the last 2 episodes wouldnt have happened. it is the producers nightmare.

if anything, last night was "rigged" to get the next two eliminations over with so we could get to 7. I actually had hoped they wouldn't do an immediate double elimination because it all but eliminated any chance that sophie/albert would take to make a move if there was some secret thing that would throw off their plan, but reveal them as turncoats.

I'd have preferred they simply do it right after the 1st elim, with no warning, or conversely tell them up front it would be a double elimination.

either way, it was clear the producers were trying to speed up the process so they don't end up with 4 eps of pagonging.

Gut feeling that Ozzy will be in the final three.

If he makes it back in from RI, I'll be anxious to see what type of challenge they have to make the final three.

Ozzie has a shot to win it if he makes it. He will have 5 in the jury that have his vote. Assuming the other tribe splits their vote....

Jim, Keith, Whitney, Dawn= 4. Cochran's vote is not a sure thing, or even likely. That leaves 5 of Coch, Coach, Lil Hantz, Sophie, Albert, Rick, Edna. He could easily lose a 5-4 vote in the end.

i'm assuming they're going to a final 3. so that would certainly help his case, but that would require the alternative be a slam dunk (that everyone from upolu agrees deserves it).

Yeah. My bad. I counted wrong. 4 is still enough to win it. Assuming they take 3 to the jury, it leaves 4-4.
