If we want to throw out local bands, I always enjoyed 4D2 and then Haywood. There was also Kid Fantastic, which was a bit different than the latter.

Mickey's! Fine malt liquor - Mickey's! Never been sicker - Mickey's! .......

Jason Boland puts on a fantastic yet remarkably simple show

Reckless Kelly was also really fun

I just can't picture REM ever playing BCS. How was the crowd there?

REM played a couple of shows at Jolly Rollie. They were both sold out in about an hour. Great shows.

Toadies, better than Ezra, stabbing westward.

Another vote for Toadies at Shadow Canyon here. I remember my neck getting f*cked up because someone was crowd surfing and then got dropped on our heads because we weren't looking behind us.

BTE with Stretch Princess opening for them at Rodeo 2000 was pretty sweet (Feb. '99 I believe). I had to walk to that one, but luckily a couple of D-2 friends gave me a ride back.

I would have gone to Stabbing Westward but I already had tickets to see my first Tool concert in the Woodlands that night.

I had many a blurry night attending Pushmonkey shows. Always a good time be it at Shadow or Harrys typically when they rolled into town, usually with Vallejo in tow.

Pushmonkey was fun.

The front man always liked to get decked out in leather for some reason.

during the 87 to 92 years, there was a band that regularly played in B/CS.......i believe they were called Whitebread and they were locals from the area....female lead singer......they played alot of covers of the 10000 Maniacs, the Sundays, Indigo Girls........wondering if anybody remembered them.....they weren't too bad......

I remember White Bread, deadhead...My band opened for them at the Front Porch Cafe once (and only once). We were one of the worst live acts in B/CS.

I sh&t you not, for the 3 or so years where they came alot (1999-2003ish) everytime they came I had a damn test the next day. I finally saw them at concept, i think around 2004 (although I saw them around 1996), and saw them at least a dozen times in their final 4-5 years in and around houston, often at pretty emtpy venuessuch a shame to see such talented songwriters go unnoticed.

When I saw stabbing westward we went behind reed arena and waited about 30 mins. Some roadie came out and invited my friend and I to go eat backstage with them. They were pretty cool. They invited us to join them for their new years eve show in San Antonio that year, but broke up before it happened.

Also the singer was pretty short.

My band opened for Vallejo at some frat party in san Marcos. They weren't very nice guys. But the experience was cool.

Cowboy mouth definately puts on a good show. Singer/drummer is quite a character, especially with those short hot pants....

Also, when Tony's was in downtown Bryan, my roommates' band opened for Bowling for Soup there.

man, that opening band BLEW...haha, no offense to your roommate. that show was funny though b/c the BfS guys called Jeremy (drummer for blue october) and they did a cover of HRSA and left it on his VM.

A LOT of the shows i was at have been covered, but here are a few that got me:

Davíd Garza @ Shadow Canyon at NXNG 97 - shadow told him that he was out of time, so he stepped up to the microphone and said, "they've just told me that we are out of time. I say '**** that'" and then he play for another 20 or 30 minutes.

Davíd Garza @ Shadow in 98 maybe - the guy stepped on stage and announced. i don't have a set list tonight. write down requests and throw them on stage. If we know it, we'll play it. all request night, they played their stuff, they played covers, etc. awesome.

BTE @ Rodeo 2000 in probably 98 or 99. great show.

I saw Train at the Dixie Theater with about 5 other people. it was before they were signed and they put on a hell of a show for the 5 of use there.

there was a Jibe show at Shadow when Joe climbed the speaker stack and jumped off...sweet moment, but standard show for them.

one more Davíd Garza moment...at NGMF one year, the line was so long to get in to the venue that a bunch of people missed his show. He went outside with an acoustic guitar and played a song or two for them after he finished. not trying to lick the guy's nuts, but he's just a super cool guy that cares about his fans.

Bo Diddly at Dr. G's. Can't remember if it was spring of 83 or 84, but it was a magical night as everyone was moving and having a great time. It was a crowd of mixed age and temperment and Bo and his band .

I dragged some people to see him in Austin on sixth street a year later and it just wasn't the same. A stylized club full of metal and mirrors is no match for a wooden shack.

I remember that BfS show at Tony's. That was fun. I got trashed and was buying beers for the band and having my camera taking pics. I think I even talked to Jetch that night and some really tall chick who worked at KTSR or 103.9 when it was the The X. I remember trashing a terrible Blue October show at Shadow when there was like 50 people in attendance. I think I pissed off the radio chick.

Chris Ledoux - at Graham's or D&Ds or whatever it was at the time before Bonfire.

Killer Bees - at The Tap.

Saw Pushmonkey open for Candlebox at the Speedway. It was great.......there was a mosh pit.....with like 10 idiots in it.

This +2. Still have one of the drumsticks thrown into the audience. Not sure why I kept it. Awesome show!

Now that being said, I must discuss the runner-up in the best "performance" category, if you want to call it that. I remember John Michael Montgomery putting on a show at G.Rollie with Clay Walker as his opening act. I remember this day because I went to the Chicken that afternoon before the show and there was John Michael Montgomery just hangin out and drinkin' beer. I thought it was odd that he was there before a show but I guess he wanted to have a few and chase some college girls. His "crew" looked very annoyed. Anyway...I ended up at the concert with some friends that had an extra ticket. Clay Walker was an awesome opening act...so awesome in fact, he performed for almost 2 hours. After a long "intermission", John Michael Montgomery found his way to the stage...and it is an understatement when I say, HE. WAS. FRACTURED. He was commode huggin' drunk. He fought thru 2 songs, forgetting words and dang near fell off the stage 3 times. After being boo'd during song 3 or 4, he was finally poured off stage. It was quite entertaining.
