There used to be a concert at GRW every Friday night on home game weekends leading up to Yell Practice ... prior to the concert scene changing and becoming cost prohibitive.

Cost didn't really go up for that. It waned as the bar scene grew.

Live played a great show in Rudder around 99 or 00. Not the best, but it was great.

I worked that show and was stuck outside because some MF frat kept trying to overpower our door people and go inside. Still pissed I missed that one.

Not sure what BTE show everyone is referring to, but I saw them open up for cowboy mouth at harry's.. that was pretty kick ass.. i think around 2002 ish.

Tie between Blue October at Time Square
this was crazy packed too. But I liked their show at the wolfpen.. I was right in front by the moat.. nice to just sit on the grass and chill. There were a handful of people sloshing around in the moat.

and pushmonkey at concept.

i think those were about the only shows i saw there.

oh actually mark me down for attendance at the nickelback show. I was a huge default fan, and they were opening.

This was a good show too, but the other way around... Cowboy Mouth opened for BTE.

was funny watching the college students who hadnt been exposed to CM not really ready for Fred's energetic callouts "On three, give me the biggest, loudest, most orgasmic screeeeeeeeeeeam!"

Burden Brothers w/ Seven Mary Three at Time Square was fun, but this was after they enetered the eyeliner/glam days

The early days of Burden and thier Concept show was one of my faves. Hosting those guys for the day was a trip, definately cool to hang out with those guys that i grew up listening to. Taz annihalated some wings & Dos Equis/Miller Lite at Wings n' More before the show, the waitstaff didnt know what toi think of this huge ogre looking guy walking in the door.

I saw a lot of good shows in my day - Wille Nelson, Killer Bees, Ian Moore, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Reba McIntire, Toad the Wet Sprocket........

but I had the best time when the "live music scene" either started or resurfaced at The Tap. There wasn't much going on in the way of bar bands for students in the early 90s.

Two guys (Jason and Mickey?) had bands that played weekly at The Tap. That's when I realized that live music, even if wasn't perfect, is better than a jukebox.

Prior to that, the only bar bands I could find were locals at bars where students didn't really fit in.

I saw some great acoustic players at Kay's Caberet, also.

I recall Better Than Ezra putting on a damn good show back in the day. Can't recall what venue though. Don't think it was Hurricane Harry's.

I remember seeing Spoon at Third Floor (?) and it being pretty good as well.

Tripping Daisy at Shadow Canyon was classic.

Seven Mary Three played a show at Third Floor Cantina back in '97... It was a good one!

The absolute most fun I had a concert (and this isn't considered a concert) was BR549 playing on the back porch of Fitzwilly's in that little fenced in area. Maybe 25-30 people at most. The intimacy of that setting was fun as hell. They would play almost any request you threw at them.

The Killer Bees at Stafford before Michael E. Johnson died ~'90 or '91

and

The Ramones at East Gate Live ~'87 or '88.

Garth Brooks at Reed was a very good show. I like country music, but not a huge Garth fan. However, he is a great entertainer.

If we want to throw out local bands, I always enjoyed 4D2 and then Haywood. There was also Kid Fantastic, which was a bit different than the latter.

I'm not a big Blue October fan, but that show they did at Shadow Canyon around 2000 was rad.

Kid Fantastic! Hell yeah! I think I saw them at the cowhop once. Adrian that ran the factory was the drummer.

Another vote for Toadies at Shadow. That show was ridiculous. Never seen so many people in Shadow Canyon.

If i remember right, they opened with "I Come from the Water" and everyone slipped on the dance floor.

(Or I least remember lots of poeople falling all over the place during that song)

Also, seeing BTE and CM was awesome as well.

during the 87 to 92 years, there was a band that regularly played in B/CS.......i believe they were called Whitebread and they were locals from the area....female lead singer......they played alot of covers of the 10000 Maniacs, the Sundays, Indigo Girls........wondering if anybody remembered them.....they weren't too bad......

i remember the REM show on their Green tour.....Michael Stipe was making a reference to A&M and referred to it as "a school where you can get shot for walking on the grass".....that didn't go over too well.....
