Hang in there Kent

In the 50th San Juan Open, it was a player making his first appearance that came out victorious.
Albuquerque professional Kent Jones fired a final round 68 to win the tournament by two strokes over a trio of golfers on Sunday at the San Juan Country Club.
"Today, my ball striking was exceptional. It carried me through, because my putting wasn't very good," Jones said. "I think I hit every green until the last green, so I had a lot of chances. The course was tough and the pins were brutal."
Jones, 47, was playing the event for the first time after hearing about the event from former University of New Mexico teammate and 1990 champion Scott Gates.

"I've been trying to do more (PGA) Tour qualifying than Web(.com Tour) because there's not too much difference," Jones said of the difficulty in qualifying for the two tours' events.

"We were friends, but I didn't date golfers in high school," Joanna a cheerleader and Carlsbad's homecoming queen says with a laugh. "We didn't start dating until a couple of years out of high school."
Kent, valedictorian of his class, adds: "We weren't in the same social circles. I wasn't nearly cool enough in high school."

In addition, it shows that even fringe dwellers of absolute mediocrity can have supporters - encouraging them to keep trying.
Can someone tell me the appeal of this thread?

Indeed, creativity is flourishing. Robert Garrigus is known as Gorillagus for his long drives and long arms. The stocky K.J. Choi is Tank. And one of our favorites: Kent Jones, Hamburglar. (It fits, Google Images confirms.) Of course, a nickname alone suffices for the greatest player of this era. Eldrick Tont Woods always has been Tiger. But his Stanford buddies called him Urkel.
