As the season winds down Kent finds himself in a familiar spot.

He's 180th in money at $222k so he's gonna have to win somewhere around $600K to $700k more in the next few weeks to avoid Q-School.

Kent didn't make it past the 2nd round of Q-School last month so he will be without his PGA card for the first time since 1999.

I'm guessing he'll play in a handful of PGA events next season on sponsor's exemptions and maybe play full-time on the nationwide tour or whatever it's called now.

Unfortunately, a pedestrian $32,829 in total prize money means the Jones household will be cutting corners this year.

Kent with his best finish to date -29th for $34k. 4 events played on the PGA Tour and he's cashed in 3 of them. I guess he's motivated to make the most of his chances.

what are the expenses of a golfer like kent - spending weeks upon weeks on the road. if he earns $188k this year, how much gets spent on hotels/rental cars/airline tickets/etc

I just read start to finish for the first time too. Nice read.
I once had to start on 3 because the Nike Tour was using 1 & 2 to weed out a few players. They started with 15 and played 1. Cut a couple. Went to 2. Played and cut a couple. Back to 1. Until there were 3 left that got to go to Nike Tour Qualifying. Rough life.

Well Kent pulled through to the final stage of Q-school like the champion grinder he is.

PJYoung - early on in the thread was a guy who mentioned that blackwelder was his coach. Is this the same blackwelder duo in golfing where the mom coaches at the college level, and the daughter plays on the tour?
