I loved the holler house. I remember when A&M upset OU in one of the last matches hosted there. Got to meet Stacy Sykora. So sad when they tore it down
Bingo! The Rice coach played at aTm. She would be great! She has a tournament team every year.cbmik95 said:
It's going to be hard to get a qualified experienced P5 head volleyball coach to A&M. Byrd was like the 5th in line the last time. We don't have a huge support system for volleyball. Thinking we have to start small. Maybe we can pull the UH head coach, who has turned them into a top 25 team. Or even the Rice coach.
I seriously doubt a big name will give us a serious look, issues seem to start at the top down
The Rice coach has done well there for a long time and she would be an improvement on the bird, but 2 NCAA tournament wins in 18 years doesn't sound like a coach that is going to come to Aggieland and win a national championship. After so many years and so much equity at Rice, she may not even want to leave. It's not like it's football or basketball and it's a life-altering amount of money she would get.Pioneer said:Bingo! I may have a memory thing here but I believe someone told me the Rice coach has a well established life right there in West U. I believe husband is a doctor in the med center, kids in school there, etc. - a very established life and a spouse with a career that makes Rice a great choice specifically for her. So, that may not be as easy as a former student and player that wants nothing more than to move to a bigger program in the SEC and at her alma mater.
I could be thinking of someone else, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Bridgelands is far from West U.Shucky said:
Not sure what her husband does. But they live in NW Houston. Her daughter is the libero on a very good Bridgeland team.
Or was there something to the story I remembered. Now I'm confused too.Wicked Good Ag said:Bingo. She was a terrific player for TAMUGap said:

I would say she wouldn't have wanted to be the person who took over for her "fired" coach but she isn't going anywhere I wouldn't think
