I kind of agree. But I think a P2 for Max, with fastest lap, would tie Charles for the drivers championship. Where as P1 gets him a 7 point lead with fastest lap. So from that perspective, it makes sense. Still sucks for checo.

I wonder how much of an issue the engine/power unit changes for Charles will play out towards the end of the season. I believe he will be on his third one for the next race.

Except them fighting for a few laps would have done nothing but potentially allow Mercedes to catch up, wear tires, etc

Really good run for both Merc drivers today. Bad luck for Ferrari.

Really sucks for Checo to get that call, but it was the right call for the team. At least when Max was fighting, he was doing it with one hand tied behind his back, but still managed to pass. RB couldn't afford their drivers fighting up front, and risk something going wrong. Checo needed to find some additional pace if he wanted to make a good argument. All that said, I'm sure he's pissed, and I can't blame him.

I agree with you, but I think every driver wants the chance to keep the lead if they got it.

But Max immediately started creating distance from him as soon as a he was past. So it's hard for him to complain too much.
