SFA was amazing. They placed 2nd in the 4x400 but didn't pick up a single point in the individual 400 or 400 hurdles or anything else except winning the high jump. Where were they?

From this meet we only lose Deadmon, Dixon, and Comick! We bring back all of our sprint relay, Brandon Miller and Allon Clay, James Smith and Moitalel Mpoke, Sam Hankins, Nick Mirabelli, and Bryce Foster. And we got scholarship money to play with the transfer portal... we're okay! Many LSU and Oregon guys will go pro after this Olympic year...

Hell SFA was at every home meet we had and I never saw this.

They had some good passes. They were moving down on the exchange so they didn't have to run as far. If you replay it back you'll see Robinson start near the rail and they exchanged after us.

Our men arent a real factor right now. We need to recruit a lot more speed.

How are we not a factor? Sounds like we were very close to an even higher finish. We're we competitive all season?

3834 - Gittens (A&M)

I hope a couple of the football scholarship players can come in and give us a few points. It's so difficult for the men with only 12 scholarships and very little of the extra scholarship help that so many schools seem to be able to give.

LSU score an insane number of points. They doubled up everyone but Oregon and still finished 29 points ahead of them!

Truly without disparaging anyone of our athletes, I got the feeling that many posters felt that Achane was going to be able to come in and place high or even win the 200m, basically because he was the fastest football player on the field. The NCAA Division I track and field athletes are very close to being world class in many of the events. That's especially the sprints where physical maturity isn't as much of an apparent requirement as for some of the distance races. Devon likely has the potential to score at the NCAA's if he is able to keep developing and doesn't get hurt. But we saw tonight that he has a long way to be a first place contender at this level.

His 400m PR is 45.61. He ran 47.98 in prelims on Wednesday. That's was a crazy outlier anchor.

Our first scoring begins with the high jump, hopefully we get a first and third there! Then Acquah can go off and medal in the triple jump as Mu wins the 400 with Young placing top 4! Then we can get 10 more from Tyra and 10 from the relay! We just really need to perform to our abilities and hope USC doesn't go crazy

Texas Tech has fallen WAY off in very little time. They scored 0 points after winning the title with 60 points just a few years back.

Baylor also earned 0 which made me chuckle.

QUESTION:

How many points is the Heptathlon worth? Seems like it should be double like the relays. I mean 7 events and two days- gotta be worth more than 10 pts, right?
Hand Of God

Every event is scored the same including relays.

I think swimming doubles relay points.

That Fahnbulleh stride! Wow!

I ran some adult track for a couple years up here in MN and he ran for the same club in HS. Freak athlete just some crazy raw talent.

After thinking during the Bolt years American sprinting was dead it's made a maddening return to prominence. So much depth coming up.

They are saying Fahnbulleh's stride is longer than Bolt's. He heavier and lumbers out of the blocks, but once he gets going, oh my goodness.

I'm far from expert on this but Achane looks like he's bulked up during football offseason and during track season. I would like to see him a tad bit leaner during T&F.

Agreed. We were 5.5 points away from a team trophy. LSU had a loaded squad this year. If they just lose Harrison, the team race becomes much, much more competitive.

I'm not a track expert but love watching it.

I was curious about the point system. Sometimes relay points are doubled. Is that just a high school thing?

Also texas schools do the 4 X 200. Are we the only state? Thanks
taylorswift13
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Yeah the double relay points is more of a UIL thing. Most states do a 4x200 as well. I'm one of those who wishes UIL stopped doubling points on relays and got rid of the 4x200 lol! I'm also for scratching the 1600/3200 and moving it to the 1500/3000, then adding a 5000 to help distance runners in Texas acclimate more to the college level.
