It's still really strange to see how bad the Red Wings are these days. Going to so many games in the 90s and the Wings were so good and such a rival.

For sure, but can't say I hate it. The wings and their "fans" locally were a source of a lot of grief for a long time at Reunion.

Yeah, but it was so much fun when we hooked up with them. My boss at the time was from Grosse Pointe and a huge Wings fan so it was even more fun.

Quick story, we were playing them in the playoffs in 98 and it was intermission and my boss found me and gave me a shove all in fun. Stars fans got in his face and it was almost a rumble until I started laughing and telling everyone this is my boss and good buddy. Tensions were so much higher back then as now you see fans of other teams fans always hanging out with stars fans and taking pictures together.

Definitely some fun times. Great story.

I remember getting stopped and heckled by some wing fans after we lost to them that summer at Six Flags, of all places.

I've got so many stories from those days some good some bad. I went to damn near every game in the late 90s. I'll share some of them organically throughout this thread.

Here's another quick, So it was a Sunday night against Edmonton and we kicked the **** out of them. I got so drunk at the Stars club afterwords that I ordered a a Tanguay shot of Gin instead of Tuaca shot. It was horrible but I took it. Later on, since many of the players went in there after games, I saw Neal Broten and my big , drunk ass started making my way too him to get him to sign my jersey. He had that look in his eyes that I was going to fight him. He was super nice when I made it up to him and signed my jersey.

Speaking of getting cat-called by Wings fans....

I once flew into Flint, Michigan(97) and ,of course, I was wearing a Bill Huard Stars jersey and as soon as I got off the plane a security guard asked me if I was lost while laughing. From there I went Auburn hills just outside of Detroit and was hungry so I go into the Burrito Place that I was told was really good. I walked in and the dude behind the counter, without missing a beat, said we don't serve Stars fans. Everyone in the place Started laughing and it turned out the guy was from Duncanville originally. Same day, I went to the mall in auburn hills and of course was getting stared at by everyone as I looked for the CCM hat store. I walked in and the entire place just stopped what they were doing to give me that why are you here look. I told them where I was from and that they didn't have much Hockey hats except Stars stuff and they turned out to be cool and aks me questions about the Stars and how Hockey is doing in Dallas. Moral of the story, we don't find it too strange that other teams fans wear their gear here In the metroplex but they sure do( did) up North. I haven't been since the 90s so I doubt its a big deal now.
