After going through the first few pages of this thread again, I just want to point out Perry has been such a catalyst in Montral and we really could have used him this season.

I doubt that Perry would've made that much of a difference in the regular season for the Stars.

Perry being on the team may have led Nill and Bowness to send Robertson to Europe to play or not play everyday in the NHL.

If that had happened then having Perry would've actually been a negative.

Another uninspiring Nill signing. No one on the AL can do what Comeau does? We already re-signed Kero.

We can never have enough gritty 3rd/4th liners.

It was this or expose someone they didn't want to expose. This all but guarantees that Seatle takes Dickinson with the slightest possibility that they take Doby and relieve the goalie logjam.

I forget some of the RFA details, but I suppose they could possibly try to avoid re-signing Dickinson until after the expansion draft in a similar fashion to what some believe they're going to try with Oleksiak.

And frankly, as far as risk that Dickinson signs elsewhere...would you prefer to lose Dobby in the expansion draft and Dickinson in free agency or keep Dobby and lose Dickinson in the expansion draft?

Stars equipment sale at comerica center in Frisco has authentic jerseys, the made in Canada that team wears, for sale. Including winter classics for cheap. I can't make it but I'd suggest anyone interested get up there by 1.everything at hangar store is 20-60% off too

Ben Bishop is waiving his no movement clause so that the Stars can protect Doby. Apparently there are still major concerns with Bishop's health.

If it was iffy before, this makes Dickinson the odds on favorite to be selected by Seattle.

$8.45 million yearly cap hit. Makes him the 6th highest paid defender in the league. About what many expected.

They'll have about $6 million left to fill out the roster this off-season.

If he keeps improving, once the cap starts to increase again, this will look like a pretty darn good deal.

Who does Seattle take now? Oleksiak (free agent), Bishop (injuries) or Mascherin (unproven prospect)? It's almost like Nill is daring them to take Bishop. And honestly, that wouldn't be the worst thing, for either team. But surely it Mascherin? I'm totally thrown off now.
Interesting move though. You go from losing just Dickinson (for nothing, mind you) to losing Dickinson + another for a 3rd round pick. Surely they'll try to turn one of their third round picks into some sort of move before the draft. That may just mean packaged to move up in one of the first 3 rounds, but again, who knows.

Seattle is already taking Driedger from Florida, so they're likely just looking for one option.
Price is a huge cap hit. They may still take him, but his salary is over double what Bishop's is. I honestly don't see how you take the gamble with Bishop though, so Price might make the most sense.

I wouldn't want to take on his contract if I were the Kraken. I'd much rather take that $$$ and try to sign one of the elite free agents like Landeskog.

On that note, what they do at goaltender may depend some on whether they're able to get any deals done before the draft.
