Me too. Friday night, IMAX 3D. Been a long time since I've seen a blockbuster in a packed house on a Friday night. Always makes the viewing experience more fun with an enthusiastic crowd.

First dissenter has chimed in on RT. Sitting at 96% now... Thinking it will sit easily above 90% though when all the reviews are in. And nevermind all the "will it make enough money?" talk. I don't have any doubt now that this is going to be another huge hit for Marvel.

The pervasive movie references detract from the stab at freshness, and "Guardians" depends all too much on the whimsy of '70s anthems for an original beat. Others, eager for any playfulness from Marvel, will surely be more excited by "Guardians of the Galaxy." To them I quote Solo: "Laugh it up, Fuzzball."

"Guardians of the Galaxy," a Walt Disney Studios release, is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for "intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and some language." Running time: 121 minutes. Two stars out of four.

the after the credits GOTG scene is the most insane thing i've ever heard of.

Got my tickets for Sat night 3D showing, now I'm out. Avoiding this thread until after I see it -don't even want the end credits scene spoiled for me!

7:30pm tonight. I'm really glad it was decided to start having Thursday night showings for some movies instead of midnight.

Already down to 89% on RT...what's the deal?

I looked at several of the negative reviews, they're from movie/entertainment critics and not regular movie-goers. I pretty much blanket disregard critics' reviews.

I first thought this movie was going to be STUPID beyond all belief when I first saw mini-trailers and such in the theater or on here. It's slowly grown on me, and being a Marvel movie (which has been solid-to-awesome as of late) helped my outlook grow more positive.

I look forward to seeing this tomorrow. One of the good things about being in BFE Iowa at the moment....even major motion picture releases = maybe 30 people in a 200 person theater.

What's the deal? 89% is really, really good. Especially for a summer blockbuster. The only movies that are going to get over a 95% are things like 12 Years a Slave and Boyhood. You're never going to please everybody.
