I enjoyed the play-by-play of the trailer here. Found this when looking for the trailer this morning.

This movie is what happens when The Fifth Element sleeps with Mystery Men and the illegitimate child gets adopted by Marvel & Joss Whedon.

Trailer comments from director James Gunn. Fun stuff.

It makes me think of the Avengers crossed with Firefly with a raccoon instead of River.

This trailer does confirm my feeling that the movie roll be very 5th Elementy.

And that is VERY good news in my opinion and I have this to say to you if you hate Fifth Element

So insanely curious how this is going to do at the box office. It'll make money, no doubt, but will general audiences show up? This is the first true test of the Marvel cinematic brand. Can't wait either way.

As someone who is not invested in the comic book world, this looks like some very entertaining sci-fi.

I am too. I thought it would easily kill it, but now I'm not so sure... It's got Diesel and Cooper going for it, but in voice roles... And the rest of the cast are hardly huge A-listers.

I want Chris Pratt to be a star because I like the guy so much. And while it seems the internet loves him, it's easy to forget that hardly anyone watches Parks and Rec, and he's definitely not a huge draw yet.


Marvel's got the mojo working, but this will be their first real test. It may be just too weird and unknown for the casual fans to show up. It could be Marvel's version of Scott Pilgrim. That is, huge critical and fanboy approval, but just no interest from the majority of everyday moviegoers.

Seems like a smart idea to have it released in August where everyone will have seen their summer movies already and it can do more business as the new kid on the block

Good trailer. Knowhere (giant floating head thing) looked cool.

There could definitely be a Scott Pilgrim parallel, SP. Same release month, same type of fanboy hype. I think this one will make more based on the Marvel name alone, but every time I've been in a theater and the trailer has played, it's received more "what the hell was that" reactions than genuine enthusiasm. Definitely rooting for it, though, and I think it could absolutely surprise.

I'd see it without the Marvel name, so hopefully there will be other summer movie goers that will feel the same.

This better do well in the box office so we can get a proper Deadpool

Word of mouth will propel this one into a mega hit franchise, second to Iron Man.

He is the star of the (current) #1 movie of the year. They just need to let audiences know that Pratt was Emmitt in The Lego Movie and kids will line up....

I love how they're using John C. Reilly as the voice of criticism about the movie's concept. Maybe it's just in the way they cut the trailers, but every time he's the guy saying, "Psh, Guardians of the Galaxy? WTF?" I'd bet that's consistent through the flick and he has a line around the time of the climax that's along the lines of, "But that was pretty awesome..."

Maybe they can have him describe Star Lord as a "mischievous badger".
