Extended edition coming in November. I'm more interested in the supplemental material than the extra scenes, to be honest. Hopefully we get more on that soon.

but that isn't in the extended version of the first installment. I'm not sure what they need to add to the first film? I know, the storm giants would have been good for the extended version.

everyone seems like an a-hole, except for Bilbo and one of the dwarves.

Guess it's the price of preemie twins at home - I saw each of the LOTR's on opening day, and I still haven't seen the Hobbit.

I will see these movies and I'm sure they will be spectacular. I may even love them.

However, I think Jackson is just writing fan fiction at this point and putting it on screen. There is so much fabricated material making its way into these movies, based on that new trailer, that it will be hard to enjoy them on a rewatch. Still haven't rewatched the first movie.

This. I'm excited to see so many things from the book make it to the big screen: Smaug, Erebor, Beorn, etc. But Peter Jackson has absolutely destroyed the story. Somewhere, J.R.R. Tolkien is weeping in his grave.

Jackson did a fantastic job adapting the LOTR trilogy to the movies; I'm really disappointed that he's pimping the Hobbit to Hollywood.

Have to admit, I'm a LOT more pumped for this movie after this new trailer.

I know PJ gets a lot of criticism around here for his so-called "fan fiction", but personally I love that they seem to be going for a tone closer to LOTR with this trilogy. This looks like it could be this trilogy's Two Towers.

in other news, this trilogy is more than double the cost (and counting) of the LOTR triology. and frankly, so far, half as good. not exactly bang for your buck.

and the HFR is basically dead in the water.
