During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fishbowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as there is plenty to run down the football field to the pitch to the volleyball court and beyond.


Football (1-0)
On Tuesday, it was announced that Texas A&M has moved up one spot in both the AP and Coaches Polls.

Offensive lineman Kenyon Green was named the SEC’s co-offensive lineman of the week for his performance vs. Kent State.

  • Green shares the honor with Kentucky’s Luke Fortner

Receiver Ainias Smith and running back Devon Achane received Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Honorable Mention honors for their performances in A&M’s Week One win over Kent State.

No. 5 Texas A&M travels to Denver this weekend to face Colorado at Empower Field at Mile High on Saturday afternoon.

  • Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT and will air on FOX.

Soccer (4-2-0)
G Guerrieri & Co. wrapped up a perfect four-game homestand as the Aggies dominated Southern on Wednesday night at Ellis Field.

  • Texas A&M 5, Southern 0
  • 16’: Lauren Geczik opened the scoring on a direct free kick from 20 yards out.
  • 51’: Maile Hayes scored courtesy of assists from Mia Pante and Makhiya McDonald
  • 55’: Daria Britton scored on an assist from Geczik
  • 77’: Natalie Abel scored off assists from Kate Colvin and Macy Matula
  • 80’: Natalie Yoo scored off assists from Ali Russell and Matula
  • In goal, Jordyn Gunnarson and Jordan Burbank combined for the clean sheet, playing 45 minutes each.
  • A&M outshot Southern, 38-3.

The Aggies head north to face Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Sunday.

Volleyball (3-2)
On Monday night, Texas A&M volleyball opened their home slate with a sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

  • 25-22, 25-20, 25-20
  • Destiny Cox had a team-high 13 kills on a .433 attacking percentage.
  • London Austin-Roark had 12 kills on a ridiculous .667 attacking percentage.
  • Camille Conner had 38 assists, and Macy Carrabine had 21 digs.

This weekend, the Maroon & White will host the Texas A&M Invitational at Reed Arena, playing three matches.

  • Friday: Texas A&M vs. Houston - 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+
  • Saturday: Texas A&M vs. UAlbany - 12:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+
  • Saturday: Texas A&M vs. UTSA - 7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+

Men’s Golf
No. 16 Texas A&M swept the Marquette Intercollegiate this week at Erin Hills in Erin Hills, Wisconsin.

  • As a team, the Aggies finished 32-under on the weekend, finishing four strokes ahead of runner-up South Florida.
  • Individually, Walker Lee finished 14-under (66, 67, 69) to beat East Tennessee State’s Mats Ege by a single stroke.
    • T12: Sam Bennett & Michael Heidelbaugh both finished 5-under.

Next for the Maroon & White is the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational next week in Carrolton, Texas.

  • The event begins on Monday and runs through Wednesday.
  • The University of North Texas is hosting the event.

Men’s Basketball
On Thursday, the Southeastern Conference released the official dates for all 18 of Texas A&M’s conference games this season.

Women’s Basketball
On Thursday, the Southeastern Conference released the official dates for all 16 of Texas A&M’s conference games this season.

Cross Country
On Tuesday, freshman Gemma Goddard was named the Southeastern Conference’s co-freshman runner of the week following her performance at the Aggie Opener last week.

  • In her collegiate debut, Goddard won the 4k with a time of 14:26.8.

Men’s Tennis
On Tuesday, the ITA released its preseason rankings, and Texas A&M appeared on the list four times.

  • Senior Noah Schachter comes in at No. 62 in the singles rankings.
    • Matthis Ross - No. 79
    • Pierce Rollins - No. 91
  • The doubles pairing of Schachter and Rollins came in at No. 60 in the doubles rankings.

The Aggies begin their fall season this weekend, playing in the Midland Invitational from Sept. 10-12.

Women’s Tennis
On Tuesday, five Aggies appeared on the ITA preseason rankings.

  • The doubles pairing of Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith came in at No. 3 in the doubles top-60.
    • That is the highest ranking for any Texas A&M doubles pair in program history.
  • In singles action, four Aggies appeared on the singles list.
    • Makarova came in at No. 10.
    • Goldsmith is ranked No. 103, and Katya Townsend is No. 108.
    • Incoming freshman Mary Stoiana was ranked the tenth-overall newcomer.

Track & Field
On Thursday, former Texas A&M star and current Nike athlete Fred Kerley earned his third-consecutive Diamond League victory, winning the 100m at Letzigrund Stadium in Switzerland.

  • Kerley posted a time of 9.87 to win the 100m.
  • Kerley is the first male in Diamond League history to win trophies in the 100m and 400m.
