I am 40 and always assumed I would have a mild case when I caught it but I was wrong. I believe Rex said he was 52 and didn't have any health problems. Being here at Caprock, the nurses have said they've seen a lot of people in the 40-50 age range lately and in good health but get hit extremely hard by it.

It was a big mistake assuming I would have it easy. Thank God I'm ok and I will be getting the vaccine soon. I'm excited to be home in time to watch the Ags!!

Mine was around 75 when I checked in and I was miserable. I couldn't imagine that 62 being correct. Prayers for that person.

Mine was about 75, as well.

I can feel the joy radiating from your last few posts. Pray you get a clean bill of health very soon and can finally go home!

I am 47, weigh 185lbs and no medical issues. I assumed, like others that I would have minimal problems if I got the virus. I was so wrong. My doc told me to get to the ER if couldn't keep my o2 at 90%, so I came right away when that happened.

Oh my goodness.

There is something about this virus and who it picks to get sick with no comorbidities.

I really wish my unvaccinated homies and family would read this. Between this thread and this Atlantic article I read yesterday, I've been trying to adjust my thinking in regards to how I encourage them to get vaccinated. Still not sure of the right approach, or even if there is an effective approach.

I'm a recovered ancap for awhile now, but I still retain the mind your own business/you're free to fail principles. But at the same time, two of my favorite people on the planet died a horrific and completely preventable death, and I would prefer my other loved ones not have to go down this same path.

Glad y'all are on the path to recovery, and I hope y'all enjoy the absolute hell out of your hard-earned antibodies. Beat the hell outta Kent State and beat the hell outta this in-patient nonsense.

I just had a conversation with the wife of an unvaccinated 60yr old Harvard trained plastic surgeon. Unvaccinated because his church has stated as recently as the service I watched on Wednesday that fear of covid was a demonic influence and that you shouldn't let it have ANY impact on your life. He along with everyone else I know that attends this church (which is not an insignificant number as it is one of the largest churches in this part of the country), took that to mean "getting vaccinated is a manifestation of your lack of faith."

Well, He is on day 4 of being hospalized for pneumonia.

The 2 most frustrating things about the conversation were
1) she was adamant about the timeline. He went to the hospital with pneumonia and just happened to test positive for covid. In her mind he didn't go to the hospital for covered induced pneumonia. But he picked up covid after developing pneumonia. She can't admit to herself or anyone that he is in the hospital because of covid not with covid.

2) when asked if he regretted not getting vaccinated the response was "not at all. Now he has natural immunity and that is better". I don't give a crap about him and his health but he could use his experience to encourage others to get vaccinated.

All this to say, I really appreciate rex and the others for being vocal supporters of the vaccine.

I will be getting vaccinated as soon as I possibly can. I guarantee you that. No judgment about anyone else's decision, but this is mine.

Same here brother. Hopefully people won't go through what we did before we decided to get on board. It's a personal decision for each person and I pray they will do what is best for themselves and their families.

I will be getting vaccinated also. Screw this ****. I miss my family, I miss work, and I am going to miss the season opener tomorrow night. Gave away my tickets.

Some good news: Looking at my bloodwork, CRP hit high of 11.5 on 9/2. It's down to 2.5. That's an inflammation barometer type chemical.
Kidneys good.

Liver is pissed due to infection and the treatment. It's common.

I mean this in a good way, but screw the season opener, just get clean and outa that hospital back to the family! Hope the docs and nurses are great.

That's the truth. If you know a broad cross section of people, the capriciousness of this virus is evident and should make everyone head to CVS for an ounce of prevention. Heck, this thread ought to make people do so.

Haven't been able to follow this thread but curious what the lowest O2 sat anyone here has hit? Friend of a friend allegedly was going to the hospital with a sat of 62 last night and would be put on a vent. Guy in his 30s. Seems like prognosis is really bad I would imagine? Can it even get that low? I'm hoping something got lost in translation and maybe thats an arterial oxygen level in mmHg instead of an O2 sat level.
I have, in a controlled/training environment, gotten mine down to 49% for a second. I was hovering in the low 50's for a while before they decided to turn my oxygen back up. Just as they turned it up I hit 49. It is definitely a very strange feeling, your brain just doesn't work. Like it works, and you can think, but you can't think and do stuff at the same time.

Also, thanks to those of y'all that are openly admitting that despite you thinking the virus wouldn't affect you, that it did. Hopefully people take your testimony to heart and make less risky decisions with their life.

Had a decent afternoon. Didn't have to use my non rebreather for a few hours to keep my oxygen up, just a cannula. Spent a lot of time laying on my sides and prone. Getting there, but still a ways to go. Trying to eat and keep my oxygen up is the hardest thing to do. Thanks for checking.

Did you make it home?

Good deal Curry. Keep fighting brother. I did make it home after a week in the hospital. Still have quite a bit of lung recovery ahead of me the next few weeks but I know I will get there. I've done quite a bit more walking today so hopefully that will start repairing my lungs. Hope you have a great night and can get some rest.

I was at 102 last night. I've been in the 101s pretty consistently. Haven't taken anything for the fever since 2:30 and I'm at 98.9.

Thisguy,
Wanted to check in and see how you are feeling. Continued prayers for you.

I'm hanging in there. Planning on stopping the supplements tomorrow because I've had really bad stomach issues all day and it started shortly after taking them. Temperature has been hovering around 100. Oxygen pretty steady at 95-97. No appetite, not a whole lot of energy. My wife tested positive last night and she's 9 weeks pregnant so I'd appreciate any prayers her way. She pretty much only has congestion right now.

Thank you for asking!

Keep up the fight, glad your oxygen is holding steady. Once I was able to start eating again is when I felt I was finally improving. I didn't have much appetite at all either. Prayers for your wife with her pregnancy and that she will have a mild case.

She normally handles sickness better than I do so we'll see. She either has a better immune system than I do or I'm a wuss. Probably both.
