Thanks for the replies all. I know this is a long road ahead and seeing other perspectives is helping me keep it together tonight after the first phone call home to the kids that don't really understand why I'm not home.

Apparently they've been blasting me with oxygen all day at 60L. Said they are going to be weening me down overnight to something more maintainable. Currently sitting at 94. Did they try to put any of you on the ventilator? I really hate the idea of that and my wife is freaking out because they already said if I can't hold 93 pretty consistently that I'm headed to one.

Thanks again everyone.
Are you sure they are not referring to BPAP? Big difference between that and getting intubated.

Prayers for a swift recovery.

So both my parents, age 75 and 74, were diagnosed and hospitalized at the same time with Covid. Long story short, they are both out and doing well. Both have other health conditions, so it was quite a trying time.

I had to go in and take care of them, get them into the hospital, care for them as they have got out. I knew I was likely to test positive.

I am vaccinated and age 48 in 3 days. My symptoms started Sept 10 as sinus allergy, mild cough, headache, sore throat and tired.

I found it hard to get tested with rapid results..but did an at home test Monday night that showed positive, although I was not sure. I did a drive thru test at Walgreens...waiting two to five days on that result ( which should be positive), and did another at home test today (Wednesday the 16th) that showed a definite positive.

I felt bad Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday. Treated with OTC medicines and started to feel better Tuesday and on into Wednesday. I was able to contact my doctor as a virtual visit and get referral for infusion treatment. My doctor said my condition seemed to be mild and thinks the infusion will not harm me and thinks my condition will improve after the injection...which I will get tomorrow.

Should I expect to get worse. I don't seem to feel bad at all after my initial 4 days.

The antibody infusion turned my wife around, and she is not vaccinated. You never know, but I would say the odds are in your favor, especially since you are vaccinated.

Yep, most of the people who are vaccinated are kicking it in a few days. My symptoms really only lasted for about 2 or 3 days.

I would resist the ventilator, especially if you are in low 90s. That seems way aggressive to me, but I'm not a doc. Maybe one of them will chime in. What hospital are you at of you don't mind telling us?

Hoping for the best for you. Been following this threads as others in hospital battle and recover and I am looking forward to following you doing the same. Hang in there and Gig Em.
I mean, there may be things about his condition that the doctors are aware of and we are not that may complicate things. Rather then resist what your doctor is telling you, ask many questions and consult your personal physician. Get to the root of why they might want to pursue that course of action…..

Well obviously. In general it's a pretty good idea to never take medical advice from the internet and definitely not from anonymous message board. I didn't mean that as advice to him, I was only saying that if I was in the hospital, I personally would be hesitant to be intubated if my oxygen levels were in low 90s. Obviously if doctors were able to provide me with a good reason for it, I would change my mind.

Hoping to read an encouraging update today

Feeling okay today. This is going to be a long process. I have been laying on my stomach all day and my back is killing me but they want me to stay this way since it's helping my oxygen levels. Oxygen is down to 30L. Should be getting remdesivir soon hopefully. Laying on my stomach is making it hard to be able to watch TV browse Texags or anything like that. Thanks again for the encouragement everyone. It really does mean a lot.

I did find out they we're talking about intubation at 93% because I was on 60 l oxygen and they couldn't go any higher. Luckily I was able to get oxygen levels up and they're able to lower the oxygen coming in hopefully that trend continues.

You need one of those massage beds with the halo thing to put your head in and you can watch a tablet on the floor.

You cut your oxygen needs in half in the matter of a day? Awesome. Your organs have been getting plenty of oxygen to be fully functioning and fight off this **** virus.

How is your family doing?

I figured the 60L is why they were throwing that out as an option. Glad to hear that you are down to 30L. I know that it is uncomfortable, but stay on your stomach as much as you can. I could only tolerate prone for about 2 hours before my back and shoulders started hurting. I never laid on my back. I was always on my side or stomach.

Also, I just turned on some Texas/classic country music and/or TexAgs radio on my phone while I was prone. It helped pass the time.

I never could lay on my stomach when I was in the hospital. I pretty much laid on my back the whole time. The first night I was in, I tried to lay on my side and my oxygen really dropped and the nurse came in and said don't lay on your side again. It was miserable staying in one position so long.

I know it is just say one (day 9 of symptoms overall) but the doctor just told me I am getting reclassified from waiting on an icu room to a regular room. Planning to drop oxygen another step here shortly. Don't think I've cried happy tears like that since my kids were born.

Family is doing well. Parents are scheduled for monoclonal tomorrow. Wife still has symptoms but no fever or cough and oxygen at 99 all the time. Going she's almost through the woods. She's on day 10 of symptoms. Mil and fil have both almost kicked it it sounds like.

Thankful for the good report today.

Just talked to infectious Dr and things are still trending the good way so that was good to hear. Probably getting transferred to new room tomorrow hopefully. I need a new bed!

Had a great morning where oxygen was around 97 all morning until I had a coughing fit and it's been around 88-92 since then. Oxygen is down to 30L, 50%. They have lowered it twice today.

About to get round 3 remdesivir so I am excited about that.

Also finally spoke up that I couldn't eat the cardboard they were serving me while laying down, so I'm going into an easier to eat diet and they are allowing my wife to bring me some snacks and treats so I am very much looking forward to something edible. Very jealous of you guys that has cracker barrel as an option.

Overall just trying to control emotions is my full time job right now. This is such a slog where sometimes it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I know that Jesus has this under control and I have a ton of people praying and I thank you all so much for the encouragement.

Great to hear that things are getting better. Keep your head up cause there will be good moments but there will be times where it seems there is no progress. Focus on your blessings and the progress that you have made. You will get there.

When I was in the hospital, eating and keeping my oxygen level up was the hardest damn thing to do. I focused on eating things that were soft and easy to consume. Had my wife bring me a lot of pudding and apple sauce to eat between meals. One meal, they served a dry pork chop, sweet potatoes, and cauliflower. I ate all of my veggies and I hate sweet potatoes, and chased it with chocolate pudding and apple sauce. Lol.

Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Man, can't imagine. And, far from a doc, but not sure I understand making you wait? I mean they transfer people from the ER to ICU, who I assume are in much worse shape than you, fairly regularly.

Hoping you get to a "normal" room soon.

Hang in there. Sounds like you are improving. My doc kept telling me I might get to go home in a day or two, but it just kept dragging on. I did get there, though!

Prior to that, my wife and I had not spent a night apart in all of our 12 years together. You can imagine the rush it was to see her when she picked me up from the hospital. Praying for that for you every day!

And here's to a more comfortable bed soon!

Think all ICU rooms are full so they are trying to make sure I'm going to be ok in the imcu (I think that's what they said) which is a step down from icu.

Yes all the ICU beds have been full for weeks in most of Texas. It is not just the media it is a real issue.
