Skip is an elite pitching coach. But that's been known for a long time. He put it all together this year on it paid off for OU.

When I went to OU earlier this year, there was a guy there who was very annoyed that Aggies basically filled the ballpark.

I hope he is feeling good tonight.

Anybody watching the trophy presentation? They announced the all tournament team and when a t-sip was announced the whole stadium full of OU fans booed. Lol.

Odds are it will not. Just enjoy the ride, being around other fans, and the good moments

Skip winning a Natty at OU has to sting for sippie.

Also has to be painful for my other most hated baseball team when the Aggies were in the Big XII, Okie State.

So while not an ideal outcome for this season's CWS, it is not devoid of a bit enjoyment either and certainly the Sooners are a less abhorrent champ than the last four (Ole Miss, LSU, UT LSU again).

Still trying to figure out how TF OU pulled that off. They were decent in the SEC, but hardly elite.

Is that it? That's why the teams fold when it comes time to win championships, because of whiny fans?

I mean... Going through the number 2 national seed in regional, number 15 in supers.

Then running an SEC gauntlet including number 7 seed and number 3 seed twice.

To get to a final series with the 5 seed. Insane.

No. We have to wait until OU wins a basketball championship. Then it will be A&M 's turn. At least we will have equestrian and golf.

I disagree. Those 4 schools give a s**t about baseball. OU alumni don't care. They don't go to games. Their ballpark is the smallest and most pathetic in the SEC.

We have been in the SEC FOR 14 YEARS......and OU wins a Big 3 Championship in year 2 in a sport their alumni don't care about?!

12th Man's legacy is the worst in College sports? You can't teach that and can't defend it. A&M used to be the best student fan base in college sports. Old Army laughs at New Army. New Army would rather sue those who use the 12th Man moniker than support the teams and encourage them to win championships!

Congratulations to Oklahoma for demolishing No. 5 North Carolina 13-2 in Game 3 of the College World Series Final for their 3rd CWS title and 1st CWS title since 1994! Oklahoma made an incredible 11-2 postseason run to win the CWS after finishing with a 14-16 SEC record and 11th in the SEC standings and losing to LSU 6-2 in their only SEC tournament game. It's even more astonishing how Oklahoma won 11 tournament games by a combined score of 113-38, including 5 CWS games by a combined score of 46-12. I noticed a few other trends:

1. Oklahoam knocked out 5 national seeds during their tournament run: No. 2 Georgia Tech in the Atlanta Regional, No. 15 Kansas in the Lawrence Super Regional, and No. 7 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, and No. 5 North Carolina in the CWS.

2. The SEC has officially won 7 consecutive Division I baseball national championships.

3. North Carolina has made 13 CWS appearances without winning a title, the 2nd most behind Florida State's record of 24 CWS appearances without a title.

It sounds like you're about to imply we somehow deserve a natty in baseball more than OU, and to repeat a cliche, deserve has got nothing to do with it.

This just really devalues the regular season for me.

Yep...losing record in the SEC and BAM, a Natty.

That really doesn't have much to do with winning it all. Other than getting you to a regional. I don't know why people are focused on the conferences. It's more about the teams. I don't understand this logic. This is how playoffs work. The last standing is the winner. Even if you're the last one in.

Hell, UCLA was practically number one the entire season and couldn't get out of their own regional.

Just enjoy college baseball. These games have been exciting this past week for the most part. This is a beat down but good for OU. They're playing great ball.

Just focus on being positive and not what happened this season. That's over and done with. Only one wins at all.

I don't understand people that get so excited about the SEC. I care about Texas A&M and then I care about watching good sports both in football and baseball and even others. I have never bought into this SEC, SEC ***** yes but that's my choice others don't have to do that.

some of y'all just need to quit being so damn depressed and sad about things and enjoy it for what it is. Just my opinion you can flame back if you want but just enjoy it. The teams we want to win don't always win. OU deserves it.

Pretty easy to understand.

Winning a national championship without requiring a winning record in conference play devalues conference play and the regular season. Why bother watching games during the season if wins and losses don't matter? Ole Miss in '22 and OU this year show you can win it all after only winning 14 conference games, so after winning your 14th, you're in a regional, might as well relax until postseason play starts.

The national championship is supposed to be the best team in the nation. The way baseball is set up, with two teams weren't even the best team in their own conference in the last 5 years winning it all, it isn't a national championship, it's just a late season baseball tournament that awards who gets hot at the right time.

I'm not saying that is good or bad or making a judgment either way, I'm just saying it does devalue the regular season, so I understand the point both posters you're replying to were making.

there were 18 players on the all-SEC first team...

and 18 players on the all-SEC second team...

and you guessed it...none were from OU

didn't even have one on the all-freshmen team

strangely enough...

the one little break OU got was avoiding the sips in the 2-3-6-7 bracket

t.u. swept OU in the regular season -- owned them in the SEC

Mizzou's baseball park is wosre, far worse IMO.

I'm sure some college volleyball fans believe our fan base is unworthy of a Natty. Track fans also feel we are unworthy of ever having a coach like Pat Henry.

Definitely.

Immediately after we swept Kentucky to win it all, there were tweets going up saying, "Good job, A&M. Let's see if you do it again next year", like winning the national championship didn't legitimize our team, we somehow had to do it again and again, before we were 'worthy' of their respect.

There is nothing wrong with saying Oklahoma baseball fans don't support their team, or that their support is primarily bandwagon fans. I remember when we joined the Big 12, and Okie media was adamant that the baseball tournament needed to be in OKC because OU and Okie State fans were SUCH great fans, they LOVED baseball so damn much. Then the tournament is held there a few times, and it turns out, OU and Okie State fans only show up for OU-Okie State baseball games, they're not baseball fans as much as they're fans of the Bedlam rivalry.

Even worse, the tournament goes to the Ballpark in Arlington in 2002, and sets an attendance record, shattering all of the previous records set in OKC. I remember one OU fan was so bitter, he claimed Texans gave tickets to homeless people just to set the record.

So anyone who has been around for a while knows OU baseball fans are pretty much non-existent, and their fandom is bandwagon in nature. It doesn't determine whether or not they 'deserve' to win it all.
