It was super dumb to send him, but the fact of the matter is that is completely blocking the plate and to the letter of the law illegal. Its an embarrassment by that ump that it wasnt called, anyone over the age of 5 could tell that was 100% illegal.

Bedford gets hit with the bat more than any catcher I've ever seen.
It didn't take a perfect throw to the plate. They guy had all day. You don't send him when the outfielder cuts it in the gap.

It's not hard to make a perfect throw there. The relay was coming from the infield. The ball didn't make it to the fence. You aren't scoring from first there without a bad throw somewhere.
