I find myself disappointed UH didn't go all in like Boise and Eastern Washington. Maybe an all red field with the black mound and a very large cougar graphic that has a grill bursting from center field.

Yes, the mound is turf, and black turf at that.

What's weird is that it still looked dirty and looked like it had another strip that included where the pitcher's foot would land. I don't know if there's something in there or what, or if I was just seeing things.

In the first inning, was it the right decision for the BU RF to make that catch in foul territory allowing Shewmake to tag? I say you take the out and make the catch in the first inning.
I'm always going to take outs early in the ballgame. 2 run deficit in the first is not the end of the world, still have 9 ABs to get it back...take outs and keep it at 2.

Now, had it been late in a tied game, then yeah, let it drop..

I played baseball for 30 years but nothing serious. I threw a circle change (nasty), curve, fastball when I did pitch. For the life of me, I still do not understand what a "cutter" is. Is it a slurve?

There's definitely something there that runs from the rubber to the end of the mound where the pitcher lands. Also, it didn't look like the rubber was normal either...

Vanderbilt also has an all-turf field, including pitcher's mound, baselines, and batter's box. The Ags played three games at Vandy this season.

Basically a fastball that "cuts" to the glove side. Somewhere between a slider and a fastball.
