lastly the doomsday scenario for the bubble on Sunday is:

Rice wins
East Carolina wins.....ECU loses
Oklahoma State wins
Xavier wins
Georgia Southern wins.....GS loses
Dallas Baptist or Illinois State wins.....step 2 complete
Iowa or Northwestern wins.....step 1 complete

lastly the doomsday scenario for the bubble on Sunday is:

Rice wins (single championship game, Southern Miss went through the loser's bracket to advance, Southern Miss took the season series 2-1)
East Carolina wins (single championship game, UH swept the season series)
Oklahoma State wins (oSu swept through their bracket, t.u. needed an if necessary game to advance over TCU, sips took the season series 2-0)
Xavier wins (St. John's needs to double dip, St. John's swept season series)
Georgia Southern wins (Weather conditions caused the Sun Belt Tournament to be single elimination, GS did play an extra play-in game, South Alabama won season series 2-1)
Dallas Baptist or Illinois State wins (Southern Miss still needs to win an elimination game over Illinois St. to move on to the championship game against DBU, MSU did sweep the season series with DBU if they get by ISU)
Iowa or Northwestern wins (Maryland still needs win an elimination game over Northwestern to move on to the championship game against Iowa)

one note on the Big Ten...Michigan has slipped from #29 to #37 during the week.

an upset tourney winner may directly cost the B1G an at-large spot.

5 bids for the #7 RPI conference might be one too many especially as the bubble shrinks

Maryland loses.

Missouri State down 5-0 in 1st.

in the first result of the day Northwestern eliminates Maryland from the B1G tournament. Either NW or Iowa will win the Big Ten's auto bid.

that leaves #35 Maryland (37-21) squarely on the bubble for an at-large bid. The Terps won the head-to-head series vs. Michigan, but lost the series to Indiana and Nebraska.

#37 Michigan (42-15) finished in 2nd place in the B1G and has the big non-conference series win (sweep) over #25 Oklahoma in April. That's the crown jewel on the Wolverines' resume

the D1 guys are speculating that BYU's regional will feature a #1 seed who was eliminated early in the week.

one example would be Tech since the Red Raiders were knocked out on Friday and would have 5 days off before starting their regional on Thursday.

as opposed to a #1 seed like North Carolina who is playing today (Sunday)...and would only have 3 days off if their regional was forced to start on Thursday to accommodate BYU

Illinois St. jumps on Missouri St. and with the help of 3 errors puts up a 5 spot in the first.

Interesting. I agree that's very likely to happen. Would be a very smart thing for the comittee to do concerning BYU.

I'm very excited to see who we get for our regional tomorrow. Hattiesburg is the most likely pairing, but who knows. We'll likely get a few Texas teams. Starting to look like only 3 Louisiana teams in the tournament at the most.

Illinois State is RPI #274 with a 14-39 record. Gotta have a bad bullpen. The Bears need to get into it asap

That might also mean they would be looking for 2, 3, and 4 seeds with easy travel.

MVC and B1G were the long shots in which a team already in coming through for those on the bubble. Since Missouri St. does not need a win to get in they might shut it down after falling behind early much like Florida did yesterday. If they can get it close the competitive juices might kick in but I'm not counting on it.

Still early but UH is playing well up 3-0 on East Carolina.

Kentucky and Virginia finished on Friday too

Baylor may be your #2 seed.

UH and t.u. (with RPI's in the top 20) seem like too strong of #2 seeds for a top national seed. And of course one might pull out the last host spot

Would be interesting to see if Ags get sent to Houston if UH pulls off one of the final host spots. Could be paired with Tech or TCU...

Could Texas host if they win today? Because we could end up there if they host ...

I think UH (with a win today) will block the horns.

the Coogs are the AAC regular season champ and would be adding a tournament championship. The AAC is the #4 RPI conference.

Houston has a nice collection of non-conference wins vs. Wake Forest, Fullerton, Baylor, McNeese, Lafayette, and Rice

UH tu and Aggies could be paired in regional either in Houston or Austin

Bdf championship game on fssw+
SEC championship game on espn2

Isn't visibility grand?!

Also t.u. finished below .500 in regular BDF play. IMO a team should not host if their head isn't at or above water in their own league

Missouri State loses 7-2. That shrinks the bubble.

Houston shuts out East Carolina 6-0. That helps the bubble

This is shaping towards a 2013 redux, trading off UH for Rice.

Rice and Southern Miss tied at 2 in the 4th.

OKState leads t.u. 4-3 in the 5th.

Xavier trying to close out St. John's in the 9th...leading 7-6

We want the sips, right?

If the sips win, watch out for them getting a regional over U of H.

oh boy, Georgia Southern clubs a 3-run homer in the top of the 9th to take the lead on South Alabama in the Sun Belt final

Can't I just root for Rice and GS to lose and the don't care about the sips?
