It doesn't matter either way. If you'd rather have certain wins you go get Chris Beard. We aren't Arkansas. What we are however is an athletic dept with a major debt and a guy that is supposed to be a frugal AD. The hire won't be the best guy, it'll be somewhere in between.

If Buzz goes I suspect it'll be Hoiberg. Floor about the same after next yr. Ceiling is lower imo.

I wouldn't mind Jans . I think he's a good coach but again I think floor is similar and ceiling is lower than Buzz. Not even sure we could get him to be honest

Outside the box and not at all sure we could get him but imo Dennis Gates has done a very good job. Young, still learning. Ceiling is hard to say but could be high imo.

Jans makes 5% less than Buzz . Gates 10% less. Hoiberg 15% less. We're not gonna be paying less than we pay Buzz for a decent experienced P5 coach imo. This is why I think all the talk about Buzz's tourney performance vs salary is bee ess.

Edited to say Hoiberg got a raise and makes more than Buzz now so it probably won't be him.

Fred assembled a surprising transfer roster at Iowa State back in the day. He hasn't been as successful since then but if he could repeat that today that could be interesting. But he is an Iowa kid. Hard to know how he would do this far south.

If we can't steal a proven P4 coach, then find a coach with NBA coaching experience from the Subdivision schools who is as good at recruiting as Eric Musselman was at Arkansas for those years. He came from U of Nevada, but his NBA experience (and maybe he's persuasive) spiked Arkansas recruiting and got them advancing deep and then on a path to getting Coach Cal who recruits elite.

Has that deal to Xavier for Pitino actually been sign and completed?

Some of Musselman's persuasiveness was probably Walmart money helping out with NIL.

At least make a call to see if his or his agent immediately shuts down the possibility of him considering a college gig.

Problem is, he will likely be offered another NBA job this offseason so would really just have to want to coach college over NBA.

Looking back at this, Golden would have been looked at as a terrible hire here IMO. Anything there that stands out that would've indicated he could take Florida back here like this?

Huss seems like the one guy ppl have thrown out that we could def get who fits the mold of having won conf champ at a mid + tournament appearance. First ever bid for high point I think?
