I agree - it was interesting that he paints a case where it gets pretty ugly from here, but then says stay in.

Something I read this morning that defined the bottom differently or maybe more specifically.

Rob Arnott said that the stock market bottom is usually when the rate of bad news that comes out slows down. By the time good news comes out, you already missed it.

Hopefully we have people that track this stuff.

I'm a voracious reader of news and I look for how the market reacts with new stories coming out.

Arnott did mention that. I may be off, but I think he called that nowcasting. What we read already happened and will be late. I still think it is easier than trying to guess at the rate of bad news slowing down.

Maybe combine the two and then let me know what your new crystal ball says so we can get rich!

What say the crew about OXY? Seen a lot of talk and buzz regarding XOM and CVX yet OXY is quite cheap, but is it a falling knife? Would be hard for me to believe but they are getting hit very hard right now. I know the Anadarko deal had mixed reviews and they had to take on additional debt to make that happen along with Anadarko's existing debt. However, is this a time to scoop up a $50+ O&G stock even though it will still have some downward movement in the short term?
