I'm here with Nomad Proppant. Our first year participating in the cook so our booth is spare compared to some of these. The setups some folks have is insane.

Saw an email that Magellan board approved the OneOK merger

I should have put my post from Stocks thread here, but I discovered that this happened this morning. Had some cash show up in my trading account from the merger and was surprised by that because I hadn't checked in on it.

So now I need to decide what to do with that cash. Dump it back into OKE or put it into one of my other stocks: XOM, AMZ, WMT, or PLUG.

man, Christmas gift talk really revived this thread
I'm just glad it's still alive, not many epic TexAgs threads still active these days. Stock markets thread looks like it is on life support and The Ticket thread on the DFW board may be as well soon the way things are going. Sure I am missing some others though.

...there is another.

This may be a dumb question but why does he have to? Or is the purpose just to alleviate the pricing pressure with the large draw of crude inventories?

Yes, I mean politically he has to, or his party anyway. We're not in a good spot for energy prices going into 2024. In other very stupid news, EPA just doubled down on 'climate change' enforcement today. The only sane ones that were working on rules have left. Now we've got the staff dregs and the policy cronies driving the ship. It will not get better.

It's twofold - he gets price alleviation today which is politically expedient. Then the party gets to point in the future and say 2 things: 1) "Look how much gas is and oil pricing is! Those evil oil companies!!!" 2) "Relative to the price of oil, "green" energy pricing is becoming comparable... see? We are making progress!"

Looney out at BP
Stock price immediately jumps 2%
Maybe they will bump Lawler up?

I always thought it was weird how Lawler is the CEO of BPX and president of BP America but not listed on their website as being part of their executive team.

Welp

The man had a chief of staff with a psychology degree and basically no experience, no business being on an executive leadership team, and was a dime piece. Everyone knew they were hooking up so no surprise he's just leaving to save face as I assume they're working to put a stop to these relationships and promoting executives taking advantage of their position.

Are you talking about Looney or Lawler?

Lawler. And even if by some miracle they weren't hooking up, he absolutely brought in all his buddies and made them execs and played favorites.

Here's what I haven't figured out on looney. Who would have turned him in? It wouldn't have been him or the other person. There was obviously a third person who knew and had an axe to grind.

Financial Times just ran an article today saying the allegation was he promoted women into roles as a result of their relationship. Also said whistleblower was a female so assuming either a jaded lover or jealous women who didn't get the promotion.

Maybe they realized that Lawler is an idiot. The personal problems just give them easy cover.

Lawler resigned 2 days ago, presumably since he was passed up. Kyle Koontz was the named BPX CEO, OU guy.

I feel like Looney and Lawler are getting mixed up on here.

Unless y'all are having an inside conversation we're all magically supposed to know about.

There's always more to the story. I'm not going to pretend to know on this one.

Lawler was Looney's guy and first major hire if I remember correctly.

Seems weird to resign a high paying position out of sour grapes. I guess we will see if he ends up somewhere else relatively quickly.

My favorite Lawler memory from when I worked at BPX was just after he and all the SandRidge guys took over. He was always talking about changing the company image and trying to appeal to younger candidates. In one of our meetings he brought up field trucks and wanting to move from F-250s and 2500 Chevy's over to Jeep Gladiators.

He was an interesting dude and I really didn't mind all of the changes he brought over. BP was basically ready to sell off their entire onshore portfolio prior to him and his team taking over. I survived the blood letting for several years where he ultimately cut about 60% or more of the US onshore staff. He made that group profitable again and did the moves that none of his predecessors had the guts to do at the time. I passed on the Denver move option and ended up leaving before the Permian acquisition. Not sure what that group looks like today.
Charlie Murphy

I think most of whats left onshore is just the Permian no? That Denver office is nice but given BPX owns no production in that area, not sure what value it serves anymore.
