We've fabbed material up to 8" thick, OD 14' (maybe a little more to stretch here but 14 is the reliable number), Length 200', Weight 150T (max capabilities, not all same vessel)
We mostly produce skidded 3 phase separators with all measurement and controls incorporated. We also do distillation columns, pig traps, slug catchers, pipe skids, header skids, insulation, internal/external coating, pwht, carbon & stainless

I made the switch in 2018 and wish I had explored it 5 years earlier.

It's a hard transition to make. Most operators don't hire senior service hands anymore other than for field supervision jobs in your area of expertise. But yes, 100% make the move if you can. Made mine over 20 years ago.

Heavy consolidation is what is being shared, and I think it makes sense. The campus is dead most of the time
it's a consolidation, although this is more possible due to post covid ways of working and non-stop internal reorganizations/downsizing. plan seems to be to occupy/lease back two of the buildings and market the rest

I have first hand knowledge of american private companies being in the mix and operating assets in Venezuela. There is no state owned oil company.

Thanks for posting this. I have been wondering about some of the same issues with reluctance of U.S. explorers to invest massively in a country known to expropriate that investment.
Additionally, this heavy crude, from my understanding and reading, is mostly present in oil sands, not conventional reservoirs. Unlike the Canadian oil sands, it is extremely heavy and requires a significant amount of pressurization to bring it to surface. I did read that the production costs for Venezuelan oil could be as high as $80/bbl, compared to as low as $50 for Canadian oil. I would appreciate input from anyone in the industry as to how accurate these figures are. If true, it isn't hard to understand why almost everyone but Chevron pulled out of the region, and it will take a lot of convincing for them to re-enter..

There's a tiny bit of "all oil is bad" in here but this seemed to be a good overall explanation.

i understood that the SPR can't be filled with the VZ stuff. it's not within spec required to go into it.

also, the amount you could store by blending is not endless. only up to a certain amount,a few percent, again because of specs

Blending replaces the SPR acceptable grades being consumed by the refiner. The SPR acceptable grade is stored rather than refined. That was my scenario, not storing blended grades.

As a reminder, the US government used to take their royalty of oil in kind so they could store it in the SPR.
Technically you could do that with "new" oil to the markets.
But VZ oil, I highly doubt that amount actually exists. Much like SA's numbers.
