But looking back through the first 10 or so pages, man all the signs of a special season were there. The first 2-0 start to a season since 2011, the most runs scored over the first 2 games since 1900, sweeping the defending NL Champions, etc.

Pythagorean win percentage had them at 116 at the beginning of June. They've cooled off considerably, but even using the modified exponent of 1.81, they are still expected to win 105 games. They are actually on pace to win 96, meaning they are underachieving by 9 wins for the season, which is about 5 wins at present. It's the 800 lb gorilla that nobody is talking about. Run differential. You can't get around it. The Rangers are good, and are significantly underachieving. I politely mentioned this on the Astros thread about 6 weeks ago. My post was deleted. I had no idea why. The Houston thread doesn't even have a staff warning. But then when my posts over here got deleted, I guess I understood. You can't say anything negative about Houston anywhere. So, I'll keep it positive. Houston's biggest problem is that Texas is good.
