They were supposed to be in first place at the end of May, then by the ASB, then tied with us by next week.

Anyone know what our cluster luck is this season? Asking for some Astros fans.

Or is that too old of a reference for the current posters?

Played a lot of mlb the show when we had our best start in franchise history. Didn't touch the game when we went through that month plus long slump. Been playing since the ASB and back to winning. I think I know what I have to keep doing.

News flash buddy, Rangers have been maybe 90% healthy all season. Lost arguably the best pitcher in baseball, and Seager was out for a month. Astros still didn't even sniff the Rangers

Pythagorean win percentage had them at 116 at the beginning of June. They've cooled off considerably, but even using the modified exponent of 1.81, they are still expected to win 105 games. They are actually on pace to win 96, meaning they are underachieving by 9 wins for the season, which is about 5 wins at present. It's the 800 lb gorilla that nobody is talking about. Run differential. You can't get around it. The Rangers are good, and are significantly underachieving. I politely mentioned this on the Astros thread about 6 weeks ago. My post was deleted. I had no idea why. The Houston thread doesn't even have a staff warning. But then when my posts over here got deleted, I guess I understood. You can't say anything negative about Houston anywhere. So, I'll keep it positive. Houston's biggest problem is that Texas is good.

Somebody please explain to me how in the world the Astros could be buyers on long-controllable SP and position players. They have arguably the worst farm system in baseball, so they would have to trade players on their current MLB roster.

If they make moves like that, it would crush them for years. So yes, please do it
